Brad Wilkerson is now hitting .246
« Topic Start: August 20, 2005, 10:57:15 PM »
BW is batting .246 with 8 HR, 5 stolen bases (9 caught stealings), and 123 strike outs.

Somebody explain to me why we keep sending him out there everyday?  What does he provide?????  Don't say defense either, because it's not as if he is robbing the other team of would-be base hits.  He is the master of the 2 out, none on, double.  He needs to ride some pine.

Doesn't hit for average.
Doesn't hit for power.
Doesn't steal bases.
Whiffs more frequently than any player I can recall watching.
Shows absolutely no emotion whatsoever.

Can somebody shed some daylight on this for me?

I think after tonight, Church needs to be in the lineup tomorrow.  Hopefully in place of wilkerson.  Church had as many clutch hits tonight as wikerson has in the last month.  Wilkerson cant even get guys in form third with less than 2 outs.  We could have used one of his 3 or 4 weak flies to left tonight yesterday or in the day game against the phils.

Wilkerson definitely shouldn't be leading off.  I'm not exactly sure what the thinking is for batting him first.

He should bat no higher than 6th or 7th.

I think Carroll should be in the leadoff spot and Wilkerson second. Just something to take the pressure off Wilky a bit.

Great job by Frank to leave Wilkerson out of the lineup today.  He simply has to start earning his playing time like everybody else and he is not doing it.

As posted in another thread now that Church has 4 hits and several RBI's in two games Robinson will sit him on Tuesday and play Wilk.

Maybe Brad can become a hitting coach too... After all, if .246 lifetime hitting McCraw can do it, I'm sure Wilky can be just as good (or bad).
