Horrible.  Pathetic.  The Nats shouldn't have given up 6 runs.

Embarrassing.

Anything else you'd like to add, Mr. Sunshine?  Maybe the fact that they scored SEVEN?

Just think of what the Astros fans are saying about them giving up 7 to us.

Jayman, you forgot my personal favorite:

"These guys played like jerks!"

All kidding aside, Beachball Bergmann finally got a win, Wookie got his 19th hold, and Chief earned his 17th save.

Good day, scary at points, but a good day.

He pitched quite well through 6, giving up only the two solo homers, before things got ugly in the 7th.  He's still getting his endurance back (his last short outing didn't help at all) and he faded fast.  In hindsight, Manny should have pulled him after the 6th.  Of course, Ray King and Rivera didn't do anything to stop Bergmann's runners from scoring, so he takes the ERA hit.  Nonetheless, it was a solid outing, and a step back towards solidifying his spot in the rotation.

Not a day to be a Houston sports fan in DC...prior to the Astros getting edged by the Nats, the Houston Comets blew a 12-point half-time lead and lost to the Mystics, 65-58.

Rather a nice day for DC sports actually.

Hey that's great!  I didn't realize that we had a day game today and that he was pitching!  SHOOT!  Having kids at home w/ their activities sure is enough to make your head spin!

Wow, I am ashamed of myself. I was clueless that we played a day game. I'm enamored that we got the w, and took the series but a part of me feels left out. I have never forgotten a Nat game until today. Pathetic really, since all i do is sleep and play basketball. At least Kim Nat has an excuse, she has kids and lives a hectic life.

Yesterday was our last mid-week, non-holiday afternoon match of the season, unfortunately - remaining afternoon fixtures (first pitch before 19.05):

Saturday 21st July vs Colorado - 15.55
Sunday 22nd July vs Colorado - 13.35
Sunday 5th August vs St Louis - 13.35
Sunday 19th August vs NY Mets - 13.35
Sunday 2nd September vs San Francisco - 13.35
Monday 3rd September [Labour Day] vs Florida - 13.05
Sunday 16th September vs Atlanta - 13.35
Sunday 23rd September vs Philadelphia - 13.35

[the last-named is the Nats' RFK farewell, which just overlaps a Redskins-Giants home match kicking off at 16.15 - hope they don't give a lot of stuff away that day since it's difficult bringing stuff into FedEx]
