Who will win the HR derby?
« Topic Start: July 09, 2007, 05:59:30 PM »
Predict who will win the Home Run Derby.  There is a poll, but also post your answer so we can have a winner.  The tiebreaker will be the number of home runs the winner hits in the final round, so include that in your post.

The winner is:

VLADIMIR GUERRERO

I also vote Mags - 13 in final round.

By the way, you can go on MLB.com and vote for the order in all the rounds.  Anyway, I had Pujols losing in the final round.

I'd go with Ordonez, too. Hasn't Pujols been slumping of late? Or does that even matter for a HR derby and it's more like BP?

I'll take Ryan Howard defending his title with 11 in the final round

What's funny is that Howard isn't even in the All-Star game :)

My logic is that players with more compact swings will do well because they will be able to hit HR's in bunches.  All right, let's do this!  Hopefully, I won't have to hear Berman's "BACK, BACK, BACK, BACK, BACK, GONEEEEE!" all night.

I also predict 8 balls will be hit into McCovey Cove.

I pick our former superstar and my favorite player of all time, Vladimir Guerrero.  I don't get to watch him that much anymore, since he no longer plays for our beloved franchise.  So, watching him hit home runs all night will be a lot of fun.

I think he will hit five in the final round.

Holliday had a couple big ones.  Wouldn't it be a hoot if that ESPN guy in the kayak caught one?  So far, only one ball has gone swimming.

Looking forward to a reply tomorrow morning. The derby is pretty boring this year. A high of 5.
