Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
Dmitri Young (1B)
Ryan Church (LF)
Austin Kearns (RF)
Felipe Lopez (SS)
Brian Schneider (C)
Jason Simontacchi (P)
________________________________________________

Suppan labored in his last start, needing 106 pitches to make it through five innings of work against the Pirates on Monday. Only 64 of his pitches were strikes, but he limited Pittsburgh to three runs on five hits and two walks.

Simontacchi made it through only three innings on Monday in his last start, allowing five runs and throwing 59 pitches in a loss to the Cubs. He pitched the game on seven days' rest because of fatigue in his right shoulder. After the game, he said that arm problems were not a factor in his showing, but that he just wasn't able to throw his pitches where he wanted them. Simontacchi has been dependable this season, but this outing will be scrutinized.

Interesting interview with Stan Kasten on MASN's pre-game show.
He seems very excited about this team and it's future: "..I've got the greatest job in the world.."

Anyways, Jeff Suppan has given up at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 11 starts.  There is absolutely no reason for the offense to struggle again tonight.

what the hell.. What a terrible pitch selection.  If he threw him an offspeed pitch, Braun would have been way in front of it.

edit: back to back jacks.. inexcusable

I wish we could hit bombs in our own ballpark with such ease.

After that inning, Simotacchi has given up 34 earned runs in 35.1 innings pitched at home this season (8.66 ERA).  He should be barred from ever pitching at RFK again.

I left for 5 minutes to check my roast and move the sprinkler in the yard, and come back to find 2 HR's. *^%&(&#

60% of our rotation is garbage.

Langerhans strikes out a lot.

yeah, 60 % of our rotation is career minor leaguers.  That pisses me off.  If we are going to lose a bunch of games, we might as well lose them with young guys who cannot possibly be any worse.

But if you think about it a 25 year old could say he watched his father play in the majors...but I guess he can't say he saw Gwynn break into the league like some of us can  :?

I guess they're worried about the potential adverse effect it can have on them if they are brought along too quickly.

and Young chases a ball in the dirt as we leave our first RISP stranded of the night.. Feels like a carbon copy of last night's game.  Get down big early and then leave runners stranded all game
