Dodgers fire Eddie Murray
« Topic Start: June 14, 2007, 03:26:46 PM »
From Rotoworld:

Quote
The Dodgers have fired hitting coach Eddie Murray and named Bill Mueller as his interim replacement.

Despite their lack of power, the Dodgers are actually tied for seventh in the NL in runs scored, and we're not sure how it's Murray's fault that James Loney and Matt Kemp weren't up earlier. If the Dodgers simply played their best players and stopped batting Juan Pierre at the top of the order, they might be ranked third or fourth.

Nothing against Eddie Murray, of course, but I really like Bill Mueller as a hitting coach.  When I was a Red Sox fan, he was one of my favorites.  He was very consistent, and played the game the right way, whatever that means.  Good luck to him.

It does need to be said, however, that a lot of the time coaches are given too much credit when a team is doing well, and blamed too much for a team slumping.

I hadn't realized that Mueller had retired as a player, but according to the Dodgers site he retired at the end of last season.
