Chico proved himself to be the workhorse of the rotation once again as he threw seven solid innings last Thursday against the Pirates. He gave up only two runs, but did not get a decision. His 104-pitch inning impressed manager Manny Acta, who was pleased with Chico's consistency. Chico attributed his success to getting ahead of batters in the count more often in the past month.

Trachsel turned in his fifth winning performance of the season in his last start, allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings and striking out a season-high five batters with well-placed fastballs and effective breaking pitches. He walked only one batter in that outing, but is still among the AL leaders in walks allowed. Trachsel has not been consistent in terms of stamina, lasting less than five innings in three of his 13 starts but throwing a complete game May 28. He balked in a run in his last start -- his second balk of the season -- due to the slight hesitation move he uses before his delivery to the plate.

The sound is out on MASN, the Nats' feed.

The sound is working perfectly on MASN2, the Orioles' feed.

Don't worry.  Trachsel is pitching.  There is plenty of time.

Good game to check out the enforcement of the new 12-second rule.

Trachsel has always done well against us if I remember correctly.  We need to show patience at the plate much like last night against Cabrera although this umpire seems to have a much bigger K zone.

The nats were near the top of the league in fewest unearned runs earlier this season. How are doing now, statheads?

Livo pitching on ESPN by the way.
