Moyer waived - refuses Astros, Yanks
« Topic Start: August 10, 2005, 08:38:12 AM »
I  heard on XM 175 this morning that Jamie Moyer had been (or was about to be) waived, but that he had refused (as is his right by tenure) going to either the Astros or Yankees, who were chasing him.

Man,  the Astros would be tough with another starter.

Hard to understand why a guy with his long history of playing for non-contenders, would not want a chance to play in meaningful September games.

Maybe he's just holding out for Bowden's call.......

I can understand his not wanting to play in the NYC powder keg, but I'm scratching me head as to why he vetoed the deal to the Astros. Is it possible its because he thinks he would get lost in the shuffle, or because he just couldn't see himself in an Astros uniform?

If he vetoed the Yanks and Astros, why would he agree to a deal that sends him to Washington?

The guy is 42, I cant see any GM signing him for anything more than a one year at a time at. He obviously wants to stay in Seattle, so let him stay there.

Yeah, I don't really want him beyond the final portion of this season.
