Guess he isn't a "prospect" but it looks like he's going to be a DFA candidate real soon.  .200   .293   .340 in 14 games / 50 ABs at Harrisburg.  20Ks, 6 BBs.

The world is full of tools-y outfielders that can't hit.

I really liked the guy. I feel bad for him. He could make things happen on the base paths and was a really good fielder.

Me too Gburg  ....  seems like a really nice humble guy.

Well, he's made $7.3 million so far playing baseball, so I don't feel too bad for him.  :)

I remember the '80s night a few years ago when the picture on the message board had him as Michael Jackson. :lmao:  The Harrisburg stuff must have set him back in terms of focus and spirit.  I hope he shakes it off.  I still think he can have a multi-year career as a Gerardo Parra type.  Odd that that is the guy who more or less knocked him out of a roster spot.

Just because his days seem numbered in DC doesn't mean his career is over. He could absolutely catch on somewhere and be back in the bigs in an instant. Look at Brian Goodwin, both guys are 28 with plenty of years of baseball left in them. I'll be rooting for MAT for sure!

There isn't much upside to DFA'ing a guy with options when you are paying him 3 million, is there?   I'd think they'd keep him until the end of the season at least, since he can be trusted playing major league CF if someone goes down.

Why would you DFA a guy that you can keep in the minors and not cost you a roster spot? Especially since it won't save you money. Just non-tender him at the end of the season if you want him gone.

Honestly, they need to trade him so they have some payroll flexibility

Oh, he could be a throw in in a deal. Otherwise, you don't release except for the 40 man spot or if you are close to getting below the tax threshold

The Senators got no-hit last night by the Baysox and the last out was an MAT K. How fitting.
