Soto to 1B?
« Topic Start: April 08, 2019, 09:59:36 PM »
What do you guys think? I’m trying to think of anything that could save this season. Zimmerman is a dead bat. With Taylor back, it’s time to get creative.

Robles, Taylor, Eaton in the outfield.

I’m sure Soto could get the hang of 1b.

No - Adams platoon is better

I honestly think you're a freaking moron, but that is a given at this point.

Sure, why not. Bench Zimmerman and play Soto at first so you can get a career .239/.293/.395 hitter into the lineup.

Dead bat?  Rendon and Robbles are the only healthy guys who are hitting substantially better than Zimmerman.  Soto isn't even really an improvement.  Taylor taking some starts from Eaton is probably worth considering.

And I got a warning for the mention of a BJ while I was drinking.

If Zim is healthy, he will get hot and be a solid bat over the long haul.  His swing relies a lot on timing and being fully locked in.  What bat are we trying to force into the OF lineup by moving Soto?  MAT?  Why?

I don’t see the harm in shaking things up. Ryan Zimmerman is long past his prime and is on his last leg.

Maybe Taylor has fixed his swing and will make more contact? Robles, Taylor, and Eaton would be fantastic defensively.

Soto can adapt to 1b.

It’s time to think outside the box.

We should play Eaton at first.

Didn't Soto's father play firstbase for the Reds in the early 80s?

Just read about him.  He's rehabbing Tommy John.

Pitched for the Reds but I'm  sure he could have played 1st.

Odd we put up 12 runs when Zimmerman is on the bench.

I mean, we put up 10 with him in the lineup the night before

Is this basketball?  Does Adams run the team better as a point guard?  He's got 1 hit.

Maybe the boat anchor which is Zimmerman is sinking the entire team. He needs to be on the bench.
