Every afternoon, just around sundown, I put some seed/nut combo around my deck railing  ...   afternoon snack.   I particularly enjoy the cardinals.    Today, I saw a cardinal that was almost a pinkish/yellow or something like that.     Now I'm a little color blind and thought I was seein' things in the fading light ....  until another male came in for a snack.    The original bird did have a faint yellowish/pink look to it.    I know this, when he originally arrived, everybody else cleared out.

Heh. I used to give you pictures until Photobucket went rogue. Now I need to find a new hosting service.

I don't even know what Photobucket is.    I think VaRK tried to 'splain it to me once.     :old:

Our little visitor Fraidy Cat has been coming consistently since July 2014 except when there's a lot of snow or a bad rainstorm.

Two nights in a row now she hasn't come. Hope she's OK....  :(

A bright yellow cardinal has been seen in Alabama. Seems it lacks an enzyme that turns the feathers red.

That's pretty damn close to the bird I think I saw referenced in message 1451.    The one I saw had a little more pink/red to it though.

I wonder. Maybe your bird is only partially enzyme deficient and has enough to give the feathers a pinkish tinge, but not enough to go fully red. We definitely need a picture now!!!

At first, I thought it was my eyesight (color blind, dusk, etc.) but when the red male landed   ....   there was no doubt about the yellowish coloration.   I didn't get a picture.

Showed up tonight and we were happy, but then we gave her her food and she barely ate anything before leaving. Maybe she found someone else with better food. At least we know she's still alive.

Is she pregnant or just have kittens?

We assume she's been "fixed" since her ear has been clipped (usually an indicator of a trap-neuter-release program). Funny, though, I couldn't help but think of the same suggestion you just made because of her odd behavior.

Yea he’s up to date on his shots, just cannot believe he did that :( out vet once asked if he’d gotten any squirrels yet and I laughed and said no, the vet just looked at me and said “he will” took awhile but he finally got something :(

Yea I just edited that, our vet had warned me years ago but Buddy’s older now, never dreamed he had it in him.
