Most 2 coloured cats are male I think.

Calico cats (orange, white, black patches) and tortoiseshell (black and orange) are almost 100% female. In 15 years of working at an animal shelter I never saw a male calico or tortie. Orange tabbies (orange stripes) are male about 80% of the time.  Other colors tend to skew more evenly between genders.

And those are your useless facts of the day.  :mg:

Didn't know that. Interesting.

Tabbies and special breeds are their own thing, but if you see a calico (black, white, and orange), it's female.  The male version of that cat is either black and white or orange and white.

There are male calico cats but they are extremely rare - it's a genetic condition where they have 2 X chromosomes and 1 Y. Because of this genetic abnormality they are usually sterile and have other health problems.

At least it's in the neighborhood.    It'll be back for a visit.

Love to see a happy ending, that is a lucky kitty! Good job to you and the missus looking out for her and finding her a family of her own :)

I don't know whether she will let it outside. But she said once it's settled in we will have to go over for a visit.

Edited to add: She says the vet said the cat is about a year old and is not chipped but must have had an owner because it's so friendly (just what we thought). Turns out it is a "he" but his male parts were not obvious and the vet could understand why we would think it was a female cat. She says "he's having his boy surgery on Aug. 21."

You know, I can't help but feeling some level of regret. It was only a few days, but we really liked that cat. We both know our house isn't the right place for a cat and we both know we aren't the right people, but we've sort of been trying to convince ourselves that it was right to let the cat go to our neighbor. Such a friendly little cat and we already miss seeing him arriving on our deck each night.  :icon_frown:

Busch Stadium had an unexpected guest just before Yadier Meowlina hit a grand slam.

Molina still stole that called strike to end the game earlier this year.

That was painful to watch. You'd think someone on the grounds crew would know to tell the guy who retrieved the kitten to grab it by the scruff so it couldn't bite or scratch him.

I just saw the replay on CBS News.    The grounds crew guy messed that up.    :)

Oh man, tore that groundskeeper to shreds.

I wonder if rabies is a problem out there.  I read that the kitten got away afterwards so there's no way to quarantine it for 10 days to see if it's rabid.  That groundskeeper may be in for rabies shots.  They're not as bad as they used to be (I've had them).  It used to be something horrible like 20 shots in the stomach, but now it's only 5 in the upper arm - but still no fun.

So I started feeding a cat who hangs out in my neighborhood and now it is chilling in my back yard like it owns the place.

It's getting fed for free. Why shouldn't it feel that way?
