He's healthy, so no excuses.  He doesn't suck, he's just disappointing.

With four teams competing in the NL East, falling behind multiple teams by as few as 3 games puts you in a very deep hole.  It's already happening in April.  Folks -  it's going to be a LONG season.  Brace for the big Blow Up sooner rather than later.

They didn't blow it up last year so I don't see why this management would do it this year with the same results and fewer assets

They won't blow it up.  Mark Lerner wants to maintain the illusion of being competitive so that they can sell as many tickets as they can...

It's not exactly a blow up, but if Dozier gets going and Kieboom looks ready, I could easily see Dozier moved, along with Suzuki if Gomes emerges as a clear #1. Being the Sanchez whisperer is only worth so much for us. I don't move Doo if he still has a cheap option.

They should move Rendon if the Nats white flag things and do not have him extended.  Philosophically, this team will not pay free agent market price for one of its own. I just don't see them moving beyond the envelope they hand himi n the last home stand.  They'll put faith in Kieboom and patch 2d base until the turn it over to Garcia or the next heir.

Case in point Harper. If we signed hiim to the same contract the Phillies are paying him this team would be no better than they are now. It'd be a waste of $33 mil a year (to the Lerners :mg: ).

You assume Eaton and/or Robles wouldnt have been traded.

Eaton definitely but would he bring a top shelf reliever? An average outfielder begets an average reliever which would mean diddly for us.

One or the other would have been traded, but we'd have taken a huge loss on either, because both are way undervalued.

Eaton is a 4+ WAR outfielder. That's not really average.

Robles is probably overvalued at this point, as all top prospects are. As we're learning from Soto

What an embarrassment this team is. One freaking hit through 6 innings.

You absolutely move Doolittle because of that cheap option. All you have to do is look at what the Padres got for Kimbrel and you absolutely do it.

At this point Davey is around 50th on the list of issues this team has.

It's more that the players don't seem to have the requisite respect for him and hence are not motivated to the extent a better manager might achieve. What's "better"? Well, start with someone who backs them up but also puts some fear into them.

When Showalter first took over the Orioles, there was a clear improvement which translated to that team playing over its' capabilities -- as opposed to what we have now in DC. Glaring underachievement.

This is same group that has under achieved for the last 5 seasons

So the team sat on the tarmac for 7 hours last night before heading back to the team hotel in Philly at 3:30am?  Is Davey calling those shots too?  I say start Joe Ross tonight and make it a bullpen loss.  Don't burn another Scherzer start.

Over/under on how many times FP mentions "player safety" and "I've been there before" throughout the game tonight? I'm putting it at 50.

Joe Ross is still in professional baseball?
