...and can someone please remind me why we didn't re-sign Greg Holland?  The guy was lights out with us last season and looks fantastic with Arizona right now.

 :bang:

He has pitched 2 innings so far. Let it play out then let's talk.

Because if we brought in Kimbrel it would push everyone else down and we could use Rosenthal in low pressure situations until he gets his control back.

9th- Kimbrel
8th- Doolittle
7th- Barraclough/Miller/Sipp

Besides, losing a lead in the 6th or 7th is a whole lot easier to recover from than losing a lead in the 8th or 9th.

We can do that now.

Doolittle
Miller
Sipp/Barraclough

Not sure I want to drop 75+ million to bring in Kimbrel for that . . .

If our bullpen keeps imploding every year we might have no choice.

Look at it like this

If Kimbrel is in the 9th, Doo in the 8th...

7th can go Miller and Sipp if needed.

SP goes 6. Sometimes they go longer than 6.

It’s the depth and options that of course sells me on the idea. It lessens the burden for Rotation and Bullpen.

Justin Miller serves up a HR.

We have no-one to pitch the 8th.

Its becoming more evident every game how much we need Kimbrel.

Kimbrel wants SO much for SO long... and he's vowed not to play this year if he doesn't get it.

And he hasn't thrown in a MLB or MiLB game since the post season.  And he didn't look great towards the end of last year.

Yes, this puzzles me. It was obvious at the end of last year that he had gotten his groove back.

Was he an unidicted co-conspirator, and part of the cleanse?

So what's our options? Just continue on letting the bullpen blow every game this year?

This is demoralizing for this team.

The same team that didnt do crap against Matz, despite getting runners in scoring position with no outs in two different innings?

They scored five runs. Should be enough to win.

Lol stubborn ass organization still pissing away talented teams on cheap, garbage pens.

All these demoralizing blown leads eventually lead to bottom of division type finishes.

Rosenthal didn't pitch today but they should give him a blown save anyway.  He was supposed to be the 8th inning guy and now we have to stash him away and only use him low leverage situations?  This sucks.

Who are the free-agent relievers? Kimbrel and ??

Sign Kimbrel and stop hoping and wishing.

Give it to him, or else we are wasting 200 million for nothing.

This bullpen has pitched a lot of innings already.  Seems like they need an eight arm (Austen Williams?) but there’s no obvious candidate to send to AAA.

Rosenthal has to pitch tomorrow. It’s time to see if he can right himself. He can’t just be taking up a roster spot.

In a sick twisted way, the Nats pen is entertaining. Watching each game, waiting for the implosion. Miller outdid himself on Saturday. That 2 run lead was gone in a blink.

Up to about 30 thousand feet as it turns out. On his way to NYC.
