So Venters has been moved to the 10 day IL with an undisclosed injury, with no corresponding move.  I'm surprised they didn't plug Barraclough in for him.  He must really be in the dog house.  Justin Miller seems to be getting closer.  Voth, Fedde, and McGowin are in Harrisburg.
When was Voth sent down?  Looking at the transactions, I see Adrian Sanchez came up when Max went on the paternity leave, then Voth went down when Scherzer was activated.  The 5th SP is next needed on Wednesday 7/17, and Voth pitched on Friday the 5th, so they could send him down in between and have an extra arm or bench player.

Apparently, Voth's velocity on his fast ball dropped 5 mph in his last two starts?

Yea. He didnt have 9 days off before those last two starts. He sits low 90s.

He has the repitore to be a 5th starter who can go at least 5 innings. He just doesnt have the experience.

well, he had 9 days off before his first start when he had his best velocity.  That was the mirage.  What his track record in the minors shows is he's closer to what we have seen after the first start than since.

Right. I do wonder if he could maintain the higher velocity on a regular basis as a reliever

Yeah, the high-velo and general stuff he showed in the first few innings of his first start made me think he could be a GUY in the bullpen.

McGowin called up to replace Venters.

Huh?   He was still hitting 95 last start.

Time for Grace and his 6.09 ERA to say bye bye.

I don't mind him as much against lefties, but I don't put him in the his stuff is so good he needs to be kept on the 25 man roster. Expose him if need be when we get a better arm.

https://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/6/27/8799553/brewers-rookie-pitcher-michael-blazek-35th-rounder

Oh and you remember when we played the Padres and hit four home runs in a row? And everyone said it hadnt happened in baseball since 2017? And that the Nats did it that time too.

Yea, Blazek was the guy we did it off of: https://www.theringer.com/2017/7/27/16077676/mlb-milwaukee-brewers-washington-nationals-michael-blazek-first-career-start-9553817c57f5

He can relax...we won't do that to him again...

I heard a rumor Joe Ross is starting tonight?

THAT Joe Ross? I thought his arm fell off in 2017?

If Joe Ross is starting tonight we need to score 9 runs minimum.  I think we win anyways.

Rode over to the river this morning and I think Russell and/or Loverro (106.7) said that Ross has 17 MLB appearances this year and they've all been in relief.
