I don't see Strasburg going twice on short rest. He likes routine.  Stras Tuesday and Sunday, Corbin Wednesday and Monday, Scherzer Thursday and Tuesday, Sanchez Friday and Wednesday. Fedde pitches W 7/24, then I expect some roster shuffling
I counted wrong and thought it was just one start on short rest. Yeah, that’s not going to happen.

looks like:
7/23: Strasburg
7/24: Fedde/Corbin
7/25: Scherzer or Sanchez
7/26: Scherzer or Sanchez
7/27: Ross
7/28: Strasburg

Ross against the Dodgers. Not good.

Not the worst thing in the world to have your scrub pitch vs their ace. It's going to be a toss up if you bring one of your top pitchers and the scrub has to pitch at some point in the series.

We're all a lot older than back then.

I think he's coming back into form.  He's been ace like in July.

At what point are we done with Fedde and/or Ross? I mean, Wil Crowe cant be any worse than this, can he?

I'm done with Fedde, Ross and Voth I think.  Why can't this team get decent pitching depth?  1 pitcher gets hurt and we collapse like the 2004 Yankees.

Crowe is taking his last sip of beer before asking you to hold it.

Fine by me. Let him drink life to the lees. Then come pitch for the Nationals.

Fedde was pretty good before yesterday, I'm not sure I'd write him off just yet.

We're 4-5 in his starts, and he's bounced back from bad outings before.  That seems ok for a 5,6, or 7 starter or whatever he is.

What is the rest if baseball with their number 5 starter?

with you on this.  It hurts that Voth is hurt now.  He wasn't as good as his  first game, but he was fine once every 5 days.  I think the same of Fedde.  If we can win 40% of their  starts, then that's OK for one guy every 5 days. More critical is limiting that to 1 guy, which depends on Scherzer's health.  If it is 2 guys, 4 & 5, then  it puts a load on Stras, Sanchez, and Corbin.

I think Ross is done. I'm willing to hold of on Fedde. I want to see what he does when the bullpen isn't a crap show. I think he has a different mentality if he goes out there and says, I just gotta get through 5 versus knowing that if he gets through 5, he's probably going to hand it over to a pen that will give up 6 runs

agreed.  Hellickson is supposed to throw a bullpen soon, so assuming Scherzer is back in a week or so, we are in decent shape for a #5 for the time being.  If Max is out longer, we're in deep trouble.

Voth is by far the best of those guys.   That injury hurt bad.

Maybe.  But that’s totally missing the point. Max is out. Corbin and stras got roughed up and we needed them to step up to keep this season going and they did, big time.
