I'd guess there are a lot of factors in where Bryce signs.  Money is a big one, but winning is a big one too.  If he was thinking about coming back, he'd want to see that we were doing things to improve the team.

I'm with you.  I'm going to miss him.  He added to the atmosphere and excitement of games.  He still has some great seasons left in him.

I worry about how Soto will do if he's going to be "the guy" next year.  If he starts getting nothing to hit, and is getting walked all the time, how will he adjust?

There you have it. This was a better team with Eaton on the shelf. No coincidence the Nats played their best in April/May when Eaton was hurt. The guy has become a glorified slap hitter. He can’t play CF anymore. He can’t steal bases anymore. He has no pop. He’s best suited as a scrappy 4th outfielder.

nats have basically replaced salaries of wieters (11M), gio (12M) and madson (8M) with Corbin (23M) and Gomes (8M). so while other teams are wondering whether Corbin signing means they are out on Harper, the belief is that they are not necessarily out.

I will miss him too. But nor am I convinced at all he's gone.  In some ways Corbin signing can be read as making a statement to Harper - Nats are committed to winning.  I do think it makes sense to stay under the cap to reset.  I don't know if that's possible with Harper at say 10 and $35mm.
