wtf? no, this is absolutely not true, i can say that with 100% certainty. i have no idea where you have this idea. they are not george steinbrenner's team anymore. Hal is way more frugal and has said he thinks they can win staying under $200 million.

besides, they have a ton of outfielders already.
Yea. They need starting pitchers.

Harper would enjoy playing in that stadium. His preference will probably be a hitter's park that will help him accumulate big offensive numbers.
Cheesesteaks also. And his buddy Trout could get him into the Linc when the Eagles play his Cowboys.

Can someone amend this poll to include other teams. Or at least include an option for any other team not listed.

Why are the DBacks and Rangers listed together? Not the same team or in the same state or even in the same league.

I think the Giants could be an interesting darkhorse.

They’re not listed either.

Realistically it's going to be 3-4 years before the Giants are competitive; their farm is pretty bare, they have some big money tied up in starters that either suck (Samardjzia) or are injured (Cueto), and a lot of arbitration-eligible guys. So they are limited in their options for improving their team. Posey is expensive too and that contract goes for another 4 years. They will probably make a run at Harper anyway but I don't think he will land there because of how long it's going to be before they are real contenders again.

Dodgers. It's a lock. If you can bet in Vegas or anywhere else bet the mortgage.

I don't think it will be the Dodgers just because Friedman doesn't seem to get into bidding wars, and he tends to run the Dodgers much like he did the Rays, just with vastly more payroll.

I think the Yankees would have bailed on their other outfielders and it doesn't make sense for them to pay Bryce. Phillies make the most sense to me. They either move Santana and grab Harper and Machado, or keep Santana and just dump Franco to put Bryce in LF.

What do these numbers mean?  The likelihood of him going to the Cubs is 50%?   What does +500 mean?

Dodgers.

The Nats are my secondary. I think it’s between the two teams.

this is just for bookmaking though. Bookmakers' number one concern is paying out less than they take in, not about accurately predicting any specific outcome.

Pick the cubs and you stand to win the equal amount you bet on them. Pick the dodgers and you win 5 times as much as you wagered so if you dropped $100 on the dodgers and Harper signs with LA you win $500.

This shows how much you win if you bet $100 and get that outcome. So if you bet $100 for LAD to land Harper, and he signs with LAD, you walk away with $600 (your original hundjie back and $500 from the bookie).  If you bet $100 on LAA to land him, and he signs with LAA, you walk with $1300.

While there's usually at least some correlation between probability of outcome and payout (the higher the probability, the lower the payout), bookies will adjust the odds on an ongoing basis, to spread bettor money around and protect themselves from having to pay out more than they take in. So Bovada paying out less if Harper signs with NYY than with BOS doesn't always mean they think he's truly more likely to go play for NYY; they just may have a lot of people betting that way and they want to sway some bettors into betting a different way.

Is it just me or are the cubs too strong a favorite. I know odds aren’t always who they think will win, but Chicago is such a prohibitive favorite it’s screaming “don’t bet on me”  which is what the bookies do when they are certain about something.

Cubs fans are infamous for betting on their team. The Cubs were often one of the World Series favorites according to Vegas BEFORE Theo took over and the Bryant/Baez/Rizzo core was established.

I know Bryant and Bryce are BFFs but I'd be surprised if the Cubs spent the amount of money it would take to sign Bryce on top of their existing commitments. Frankly, I'm surprised the Dodgers have any money. I suspect he'll go to a team with more financial flexibility.

I don't think the Phils will be players here. I think they're waiting for Trout to be back on the market in two years.

I think the way the story goes I get just as much as the other sons. Right? Too bad the Nats couldn’t win a title while I was here.

we're freaked if the Nats can't win until all the split loyalty trash goes back to their team (don't forget that VaRK went back to the blackhawks and a year later the Caps won it all :lmao:)
