That was very interesting and fun for a series that only went 5.  The Boston outfielders, Pearce, and a couple of the pitchers looked like they had things the whole way: clutch hitting, good defense, relaxed but focused vibe.  I was really impressed with them.

And then there was Machado.  One wonders how much money he cost himself with his single off the wall.
I think the red sox hot streak with 2 out run production made it seem like they weren't in control until they were, and the unorthodox bullpen strategy always made it seem like they were about to be exposed.  Kelly was an unlikely stud that helped patch the supposed weakness, and he almost didn't make the playoff roster due to his 2d half ineffectiveness.  Hembree and Pomeranz / Workman were barely used in the wins.  In effect, it was almost a 5 man pen (Kelly, Barnes, Brasier, Kimbrel, and Rodriguez for most of the playoffs, other than game 4) augmented by starters.

     Good find.

:hysterical:

at this point they could go another 82 years without winning one and their fans probably wouldn't care.

Ratings off 10%, lowest since SF/KC.

Maybe start the games earlier?

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred says that he, too, is a bit frustrated/bewildered about current World Series ratings. Despite west coast/east matchup w two glamour teams, G1-2 ratings off ~10% & lowest since SF/KC in '14. "We're looking hard at it and haven't isolated a cause."

Thom Loverro was sayin' they're measuring media that doesn't matter as much as it used to ...  i.e.  TV eyes.

Absolutely but they can still be measuring the wrong media.    The advertisers will figure it out before MLB.    MLB isn't real quick on change.

I think that’s a factor for all sports. Lots of people have cut the cord. I blame Joe Buck.

That was where Loverro's comments were headed.    He mentioned the younger folks, especially, don't watch anything like some of us old farts do.    How 'bout the NBA's plan to let you buy just the 4th quarter?     Read the other day that the NFL plans on offering multi-platform delivery of games once the DirecTV deal ends  ...  next year IIRC.     NFL does that, I may have to get a new phone.    :)

I don’t want to buy any quarter if the Wizards are playing.  :hysterical:

They probably should time the late innings for country-wide prime time.  Figure these games last 3:30  - 4 hours, so a 7PM start puts the late innings in the 9-11 slot in the east and 6-8 slot in California.  I don't know about others, but I will not watch the start of just a "good game" when I don't have a dog in it and it is ends near midnight.

Trying to one-up the Caps leads to an epic fail.  And they broke the trophy:
