Anticipation.......

Quote
Doolittle hopes to convince others to join in, though, because he sincerely believes there is a benefit to the ride.
“I’m going to try to sell it on them,” said the closer, currently rehabbing from a foot injury. “A bunch of guys, they were excited about the idea of it, initially. But when I was like, ‘Are you going to take it?’ they were like, ‘No.’ ‘Why not?’ And they were like, ‘I don’t like it.’ ‘Well, have you ever done it? Because I know for a fact there’s only one guy in this room that’s ever done it. And he really liked it.’ And they’re like, ‘I just think it would be weird.’ That’s not a good enough reason.

“You’ve got to try it. I think there’s a practical application to it. Especially in D.C. We’re winding down now, but the summer months, it gets so humid. You’re coming into a game in a big spot, the sweat’s already dripping off your hat and everything. The air’s so thick you’ve got to move it out of the way to start running in from the bullpen. It’s just way easier to do it that way. You’re not out of breath. You don’t feel rushed when you get out there. You can go at your own pace and manage your energy level a little different.”

I wonder if the roof will be shaped like the Capital Dome?

I can't wait for the Fangraphs analysis of cart and no-cart pitching statistics.

I actually love this. What Doolittle was saying about getting your heart rate up running in from the pen actually seems legit to me, also it is fun as hell and baseball needs more fun.

That would be cool.  They could have a fleet of different carts too.

A miniature stretch limo would be neat, with the winner from the president's race playing chauffeur, getting out and opening the back door for reliever.

Perhaps a special cart reserved solely for a 4th inning Gio meltdown...

I wonder which reliever gets hurt first from falling off of it.

Now that was a fine piece of engineering.  I think the Mr T air freshener came standard.

I understand the first cart driver tonight was arrested for DWI in the 3rd inning.  He blames the 24oz beers.

Only the Nats fan base would get so hyped about a golf cart promoting an energy company circling the warning track with every call to the bullpen. The Revenue Chief is slipping, I'd mandate that the relievers sit in the damn cart, they suck at their jobs they might as well help promote the sponsors.

The looks on the fans' faces last night when the bullpen cart entered the field was priceless. From total bewilderment to complete smiles and some were even cheering.
