Because Gio crumbles in big moments. Team handed him a 6-0 lead. He struggled to go 5 innings. Everybody blames Storen, but Gio gave the Cardinals life.

Yep, and he did it again last year.

This Werth Day has all the markings, to me, of an acknowledgement the team will be so far out of the race in September they need gimmick nights to get fans to come to the park.

Werth Day will be followed the next night by a salute night to Chico Escuela

I imagine whichever one he picks up off of his nightstand the day he buys a ticket.

Probably meant The Albert Hall.  He has to count the holes.

Jayson Werth giveth: His acquisition started the Nats on a winning path.

Jayson Werth taketh away: Dusty's insistence on using him in the playoffs in 2017 cost Dusty his job, leading to this season's mediocrity.

That isn't what cost Dusty his job, but okay

Werth visited Nats Park today.  According to the MLB.com correspondent, Davey told him he's welcome at Nats Park at any time and that he's good to have around.  Maybe he gets a gig as a special assistant to Rizzo?

Martinez never watched Lost Boys, big mistake inviting him in.

Werth was a very talented baseball player who most likely has no other talent, to do anything else useful.  I never heard him articulate a meaningful though or concept.  And memo to Werth: anyone can do algorithms.

This. I never thought of Werth as a very articulate or deep thinker. But I suspect he will try the MLB coaching ranks and see if he likes it. I don't see him slumming it in the minors, though.

October 12 is Storen Loathing Day.

Instead of the seventh inning stretch it's just Two Minutes of Hate towards Drew Storen.

@TalkNats2

Sources: Jayson Werth will be inducted into the #Nats Ring Of Honor and #Nationals will decide shortly on retiring Werth's #28 as that has support of ownership. @JWerthsBeard #WerthIt So far the only former Nats in the Ring of Honor are Frank Robinson & Pudge Rodriguez

I'm ok with him in the ring, but retiring his number seems a bit much.    Then again, there's this, so maybe retiring his # is ok. :)

This is dumb. no way he should be in the ring of honor (and neither should Robinson or Rodriguez for that matter).

Agreed.  Who should be in from the post-Expos Nat though?
