Current lowest per-home-match attendance is Miami with 12,641 over nine home fixtures...but then again, is Miami still in the league?

Interestingly, at this time eight of the ten lowest average attendances in MLB are in the American League (full list: http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance).

For the record: Nats' lowest-ever home attendance is 10,999 on Monday 20th September 2010 vs Astros.

Meanwhile, that record-low Orioles attendance is kind of funny...but I thought Preparation H Park at Camden Yards was supposed to be so beautiful and such a natural draw for fans just on its own merits!

I can't stand Angelos and the Orioles. I never rooted for them once between 1972 and 2005.  In fact, rooted against them every game. But ... Camden Yards is a much better stadium than sterile Nats Park, which has nothing special going for it at all.

Back to subject: it looks like the BOs are about to fall to 5-14 today.  They're going to be swept by the woeful Tigers.

I liked Nats Park when I went there last year, what's Camden Yards got so much more special than it?

OPaCY is charming in it's brick-and-iron old-timey-ness. It's built in the old B&O (C&O, Chessie) Camden rail yards. It wears thin as you sit through a game, staring towards center field because the seats are pointed that way. The concourses are external, so if you're not in your seat, you're not watching baseball. It's also a band box. There used to be a view of the big old buildings in downtown Baltimore, but there's a hotel blocking that view now.

Nats Park is sort of the opposite: nothing special to look at, but serves its purpose well.

They did a great job of integrating OPACY into its surrounds, it's visually pleasing.   All the rest of the criticisms notwithstanding.

The fans at Camden Yards got to witness history tonight. Dylan Bundy became the first pitcher to give up four homers before recording an out as the Royals put up 10 in the first.

Attendance for the above debacle 10,863 (this was a home match at Preparation H Park at Camden Yards). Their season ticket base must really have dried up recently.

[By way of comparison: Nats' worst-ever home attendance was 10,999 on Monday 20th September 2010 vs Astros]

Attendance, for the record. I'm shocked how bad it is in Pittsburgh. And that Washington, DC is #11 in the MLB. Seems high.

A lot of the Pirates' recent fandom may have bailed after McCutcheon was dealt - as at many other clubs, many people won't pay major-league ticket prices to watch a rebuild.

Regarding the Nats' surprisingly high attendance, this takes in the recent homestands against the Pirates and Phillies in which the local nine did well both on the diamond and at the gate - build a winner and they will come.

Not to be too obvious, but shouldn't we be looking at attendance per game and not overall attendance? Nats 13th in attendance per game, Boston 9th.

OC pretty much nailed it.    Even with the hot start, the Bucs are regressing to norm.      I think a lot of the fans in that area are fearing another  McClatchy type run.    The folks in Pittsburgh remember the 20 years of below .500 baseball.

That 33,000+ boston is averaging is over 95% capacity.
