2018 bullpen
« Topic Start: February 21, 2018, 11:22:51 AM »

Is it set?

Closer- Sean Doolittle
Ryan Madsen
Brandon Kintzler
Enny Romero
Sammy Solis
Joaquin Benoit
Shawn Kelly

*Matt Grace
*Austin Adams
*Trevor Gott
*Wander Suero

I sure hope Kelly returns to form and if he struggles maybe one of the young guys takes his spot.

I'm not sure Benoit is a lock.  They did add him to the 40 man roster, but I guess he did that rather than a minor league contract with an NRI and an opt out date because, if he does not make the roster, then they have to release him.  At $1MM, I don't think they go bust if they decide Suero is a better option.

How healthy is Shawn Kelley going to be? Honestly, the 7/8/9 guys are set. Everyone else is just a JAG.

If Cole doesn't cut it as a starter they might make him a long relief guy?

Only 3 guys on that list that I have any real trust in.

I feel the same way. That doesn't scream, we fixed the bullpen to me....and then Cole as #5; ugh.

That's true but isn't it really the case for every teams bullpen.  You are lucky to have a few studs sprinkled in with the JAGs.

True, but there are also health concerns with our studs

Wander Suero.

The hype is real.

4 IP, 2 hits, 1 BB, 7 SO

It might be hard to keep him off the squad. I'd rather have him than Joaquin Benoit.

His mound presence is pretty awesome too.  He’s going to be Koda Glover only healthy.

Got his entrance from the bullpen music:

I can't think of a song for Suero, so this will have to do.

Is it too early to push the panic button.. Romero has looked awful and I'm not betting hew makes the trip North. Kintzler has had two bad outings in a row. Kelley , who looked like he righted the ship has reverted back to his 2017 form.

First off, it's NEVER too early to panic. I started panicking back in January.

Second, when did Kelly look good?

Well I'm calling it now:  From what I can tell we'll finish 3rd in the division.  Mets and Braves duke it out until the end for the division.

So many holes in the lineup with Murphy still likely to miss significant time,  only 2 starting pitchers we can really trust and a bullpen that doesn't look much better than at the start of last year.

We were outscored 19-1 the last 2 days. Well get used to it, it's going to be a long 6 months.

You can book that, Danos!

Take some Loonies, go to Canadian Tire and get a flat of Alpine.
