Zuck says Adams’ index finger was “pretty swollen” after the game. Will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Hellickson has thrown two bullpen sessions and done pitchers' fielding practice and seems close  for a return.

Sounds like Adams will be back soon.

Adams left Friday’s game after taking a pitch off his left index finger, and he did not play Saturday. He was not in the starting lineup Sunday, either, though his splint was gone and he was texting freely with both hands in the clubhouse. What greater endorsement of full health could one need?

Zimm on the other hand...

Quote
Now, almost five weeks later, Zimmerman is not taking batting practice with his teammates, as he did in prior weeks. He can, of course, hit in the batting cage. His manager says he has not had a setback.

“He’s still doing his stuff. It’s just a very slow, progressing process,” Dave Martinez said. “He’s still getting his work in.”

So, going down the 40-man DL guys, what's the rundown?

Benoit - Are we going to see this 40 year old at all this year?  There's not really a need for him.  Last update I can find is on 4/27 he was back to throwing.

Glover - I know most have written him off, but I'm still intrigued by getting him back at some point.  Again, not a big need.  Last I saw Rizzo said on 5/24 he'd climb on the mound soon.

Hellickson - Sounds like he's very, very close.  Another turn or 2.

Kintzler - Should be back very soon.

Ross - Maybe we see him in September?

Strasburg - I think he'll be back by month end.

Solano - Who cares?

Wieters - Looks like end of July for his return?  Maybe in time to assess our catching situation before the deadline?

Kendrick - Out for the season

Zimmerman - Rehab assignment soon?

arghhh!  Another case of the Nats saying it was no big deal.

update from Kolko:

Dan Kolko  @masnKolko

The diagnosis of Adams’ fractured left index finger came after the swelling finally came down enough to get a clean x-ray. Davey says it’s a “slight” fracture, and it’s to Adams’ non-throwing hand, which could help him rehab quicker.

update from Kolko:

They’d said he was taking it day to day but the plan had always been to give him a second xray when the swelling came down.

Fortunately it is his non-throwing hand and a small fracture, so the rehab should not be super extensive.

Mookie’s DL stint is what puts Boston on top of the Lost War metric. that dude is unreal.

Hellickson’s rehab game at Potomac did not go well. He pitched 4.2 innings on 83 pitches and got tagged for 9 hits and 11 ER. Woof.

Kintzler did better, two ground outs and a strikeout looking.

He freaking sucks getting lit up by an A ball lineup.

It's just minor leaguers from A ball.
