We sent home 2017 first-round pick Seth Romero from spring training for violating club policy.

Sources: Nationals first-round pick Seth Romero was sent home from spring training this morning. A club spokesman said Romero violated club policy. Unclear as to how long he will be gone or the specific policy violated.

That didn't take long...  :(

Romero, a hard-throwing left-handed pitcher, was an easy top-10 talent last year who fell to the Nationals with the 25th pick after getting kicked off the University of Houston team. Makeup questions have dogged him, and this incident won't help in that regard.

So much for his trade value.

Still, with how much of a crapshoot the MLB draft is, it was worth a shot taking him at #25 overall.

He got kicked off the team in college for posting a picture in his uniform with a bong. So I think marijuana is a good bet.

Per Chelsea Janes, it’s curfew violations.

Ain't nobody breaking curfew unless alcohol,  marijuania and or women of questionable professional qualifications are involved. I mean I can't  think of a player ever breaking curfew for midnight mass or volunteering at the local food pantry.

Reminds of that Chris Rock joke. If you at an ATM at 3am, a person should come on the screen and go "come on man save your money."

Robles continues to hit. You have to think the pressure will be on MAT to rake in April to ensure Robles doesn't come up and take his spot once the service time issue is over.

I doubt that. Taylor has a starting spot locked down, regardless of how poorly he hits. If he doesn't hit, Robles stays down and Kendrick will start in LF with Eaton in CF. Honestly, if Taylor hits, that drives his value up in a trade.

I just don't see it that way. If he struggles, you need Robles to get as much Major league time as possible in the event that Harper leaves. MAT goes back to being a 4th OF and Howie plays for beat up Zimm and Murphy. There will be plenty of ABs for him.

A different topic but I think Goodwin's expectations are a bit off. According to MLBTR.com:

The Nationals don’t have a particularly clear role for outfielder Brian Goodwin, but as Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com writes, new skipper Davey Martinez intends to find ways to utilize Goodwin. The 27-year-old doesn’t exactly sound like he’s excited by the organization’s plans after he turned in a solid 2017 campaign. “I don’t think my role is defined, or ever has been since I’ve been in camp,” Goodwin said. “I come into camp and I feel like I’m trying to earn a spot, trying to find somewhere – a home, where I can play every day, start 162 games and play every day for somebody whether it’s here or anywhere.”

If Taylor hits, then the projected 2019 outfield is Taylor, Robbles, and Eaton.  So they're going to be reluctant to trade Taylor.

It really depends on Soto and his progression as well. He could very well be ready by middle of next season to start in LF.

Yeah...he's not an everyday starter here, so we may as well make him happy and deal him for something we can use...

3 for 16 with 8 K's isn't exactly something that screams "Play Me!"

Why do we need to keep him happy? He's a valuable player on a team with a bunch of talent in front of him and new coaches still trying to learn the roster. He just needs to stay the course. He's been around long enough to know that things can and will happen.
