Would I be nuts to think of Brian Goodwin could have a decent career like David Dejesus - 4th OF on a contender, starter on a 2d division club?  honestly, would folks be all that upset with that?

I wouldn't be upset about that. Maybe BG wouldn't like it. Not sure if he's a DeJesus level player, but that sounds like a heckuva career to me.

Why do we need to keep him happy?

He's a valuable player,,,

Because having malcontents is always a formula for success...

If he's valuable, let's capitalize on that value...no sense he just ride the pine...while pining...get someone we'll actually use...

David DeJesus played for 13 seasons, accumulated an estimated $37 million in career earnings and had a career OPS+ of 105. Had some really good seasons. Seems like an OK best-case for Goodwin.

I have been to 5 games down here and saw Zimmerman DH one game only and have not seen MMurphy or Mighty Mouse.

Time to start wondering if Spencer Kieboom makes the team as the back-up?

Better put him back on the 40man

Goodwin needs to show me more before I start worrying about his happiness quotient.  He surprised me last year because I had such low expectations, but let's not get too chesty just yet.

He's #4. He should know that going in. He only played a lot last year due to injury.

He's not a guy who gets to dictate his terms. We used roughly 457,824,339 outfielders this year, he'll get plenty of use.

If you're gonna move him for being a malcontent, how it it something different?

Pitchers always tinker with things in Spring Training.

He is, but the smart move is to keep him down for 6 weeks. We'll survive.
