So the Hot Stove session is next Saturday and the Nats have reached out for questions from Season Plan Holders. I am going to submit a question, but figured I would crowd source it from here. So what question should i submit? Please give me things i can actually ask...

Lots of publications put out ratings on prospects. If you look at those lists, who out there in the Nats farm system do you think is ridiculously underrated by the various publicly-available raters? do you get asked about these guys as if other teams are on to their value?

I was watching them clean the waffle skillets at the Taste of Belgium restaurant here in Cincy. After cooking each batch of waffles they just had a rag and worked the rag around using a knife. Being careful to not have the knife touch the skillet. I guess it worked because it was still hot?

Knife is a bad thing to contact a cooking surface. Deadly on non-stick surfaces, and can scratch iron.

Knife with the rag under it. I suppose they know what they are doing since it is a chain restaurant here. And a popular one. Wonder how frequently they change them? It was gross to watch. No more waffles for me.

Maybe ask Rizzo if this is the proper cleaning technique.

For me, Rizzo's role at the hot stove luncheon is not that illuminating. He answers questions pretty much the same way he does in the media and doesn't make news. What's interesting for me is Camillo's talk. She will often talk about new features, vendors, etc, at the ballpark that have not been announced yet. And this year Martinez will be there so he will be getting the new kid look over.

Question for Camillo: will Nationals install temporary bleacher seats in left field concourse for ASG?

OK, let's say they "move" the trees, which is not as easy as you make it sound. That space behind the LF bleachers is really tight. There's often a bottleneck already there in front of the bathrooms.

There are six trees behind 106-108, none behind 102-105. For the three affected sections they could add 10-15 rows with 20-25 seats per section and sell those seats for $800 per ASG package. For a half million in profit Ted Lerner will chainsaw those trees himself.

The space behind sections 104-106 would be tighter than the space behind sections 101-103.

A row of seats across sections 101-103 would be approximately 50 seats. Conservatively, you could install 6 rows of temporary bleachers, you would have around 300 seats.

A row of seats across sections 104-106 would be another 50 seats, you could install 3 rows of temporary bleachers instead of 6, you would have around 150 seats.

So, 450 seats, let's say the 3-day strip would be somewhere around $600-700, that's about $300,000.

If you want to get more aggressive and put in 10 rows behind sections 101-103 you are getting closer to $500,000.

I think the trees you would need to move are only behind sections 105-106, so it may be more cost effective to only install the bleachers behind sections 101-104, about 70 seats across.

The cheapest strips will start at $800. In the outfield for the HR derby they will be priced higher. If the stands are mobile they can use them for opening day, the 4th, and the NLDS.

Won't the Nats have to share any of that profit with MLB. I would imagine it makes adding extra seats less attractive. Plus I hate the idea of cutting down trees.

Who cares about a few trees that are less than ten years old? Cut down six and plant twelve.

It doesn't seem to me it would be worth the effort for the team, even if you factor in the revenue from entire strips. But you can be sure the Nats are looking to cram people in every nook and cranny. If it's possible, they will do it.
