The dog who played “Duke” from the Bush Beans commercial, of cancer. His name was Sam.

(OK, OK, I’m a dog person.)

I don't recall.  I found him to be extremely grating.

Warren Brown, Post auto writer, at 70.

Not sure why but I used to read his pieces regularly.

“There is a feeling in this country — apparent in the often condescending, dismissive way Detroit’s automobile companies have been treated on Capitol Hill — that people who work with their hands and the companies that employ them are inferior to those who work with their minds and plow profit from information"

Too bad. He had kidney disease for a long time (including a transplant). I doubt he expected to live this long.  He wasn't the best automobile writer, but I read his column whenever it appeared.

I enjoyed his columns.  He wrote for everyman, not just car geeks.  I loved the series he did on traveling across the country in an RV he and his wife rented, visiting America.  They were apprehensive being black in an overwhelmingly white niche but quickly found themselves being welcomed and thoroughly enjoying the adventure.  At least, that's my mindfact recollection.

Ah man.    He was one of the early guys I remember from the NHL.

I googled the NHL on U.S. TV and came up with this:    CBS first broadcast National Hockey League games for four seasons from 1956–1960.

I remember watchin' games but I can't remember the channel.    It had to be a national broadcast because Pittsburgh didn't have an NHL team til the late 60s.

He was a real class act...even Garth and Wayne liked him:

looks like we're about to lose Aretha Franklin

RIP. I'm staying off social media when her death happens. I don't need the endless streams of tributes, obits and other things.

I figure a lot of the tributes will include more chances to hear her music. So I consider that a plus.

I'll go downstairs and crank up some albums and 45s.
