I'm perplexed that the Tigers fired the guy. When someone makes insensitive remarks, I thought you were supposed to hire them to be your Asia/Pacific Rim scouting coordinator like the Nats did with Bill Singer.

The club isn’t saying, but the speculation is that it was something racist and/or sexist and highly inflammatory. Apparently Avila did not even wait to discuss it with Gardenhire.

My sources in Detroit (who are usually spot on) said it was something incredibly racist. My friend’s source said it was something so bad that no one really wants to repeat it. Apparently it was pretty much an on the spot firing.

During this exchange, Bosio made a derogatory comment about one of the Tigers pitchers and then gestured toward the attendant before adding, “like this monkey here,” the sources said. The attendant pushed back at Bosio for the comment, and an additional team employee witnessed the exchange. Bosio was provided an opportunity to apologize to the attendant after his outburst but declined to do so, according to multiple sources.

I'm glad he got fired.

Red Sox acquire Steve Pearce. Gives them a righty bat if they want to rest Moreland, Benintendi, or Bradley. Probably realized Swihart isn't going to be a super utility guy.

How the hell did I not see this in the clubhouse? I guess that's what happens when the clubhouse gets flooded with threads that don't belong there.

So it looks like Harper is going to start.

Does this mean Juan Soto will be on that last list where fans will have to vote to see who gets the final spot? If that happens I may actually vote.

And in a development that will surprise no one, the Orioles have an issue with the medicals on one of the 5 prospects packaged in the Machado deal. So it ain’t completely done yet.

Huh? That's a good trade for the Pads. They've got a lot of legit talent in the pipeline. Mejia jumps to the top of that list.

Yep, but they could have gotten more for a closer and a solid setup guy. There aren't going to be a whole lot of other options to hit the market, and there should be quite a bit of interest in those pieces. Atlanta, Philly, maybe Dodgers or Snakes could all be buying bullpen help.
