Several reporters are saying that the Mariners are nearing a 1-year deal with Ichiro, indicating a return to normalcy in the world, because Ichiro needs to play one more year, and he needs to do it in Seattle. Circle of life, yo.

Steven Souza Jr. with another no-hitter saving type diving catch, and then doubled the runner off of first...

Very slick play...

saw him on the 30 for 30 for the d-backs.  He and Carlos Pena went through the Spring facility's gym.  I always thought Pena was a big guy, but Souza was taller and more muscular.  Granted, Souza is an active athlete, but Pena was a 1st baseman so you'd think he'd still be big.

For that, I would have. Like the Nats to sign him.

Was he a guy who rejected a QO?  If not, then I'd rather sign him on that contract than bring in Arrieta at almost any price.

The qualifying offer system is so dumb. I wonder if it will survive the next CBA. Almost No one accepts it and it depresses the free agent market.

I like that teams can get a consolation prize when their star walks and signs elsewhere, but I agree, the current system is broke as a joke.

Players need to get smarter about accepting it. I think the next CBA will involve a work stoppage, I think it will end up even worse for players- I just don’t see the majority jeopardizing a year of their careers to make a stand
