Let's see whether this'll display. Our neighbor's house took a pounding (seen from our deck this morning):

Keep an eye on this nor’easter potentially hitting the dc area on Sunday-Monday. Lots of snow potential.

I seem to recall a late storm of this nature in April of I want to say 1996.  We lived in a group house in Glover Park at the time, and there was a snow-day, daytime-drinking card game going where if you went bust you had to sit with a bare ass in the snow for a while (I think a minute).

Great, we're headed off Monday to Wintergreen for a few days, have a cabin at nearly 4,000 ft up.    Maybe will ski after all, though I was hoping to fly fish instead.

flying back Monday.  The last time I took this flight back it was delayed 3.5 hours, for what reason I know not.  The incoming flight leaves DCA around 10:20 or so.  I forget where it comes from before that.  Please go smoothly.

models are lessening the chance of a major impact from this storm, but it still is worth watching to see if it develops over the next 48 hours or so.

There's talk of a wintery mix in the Norfolk area.  So DC is bound to get some white stuff

Boston really getting blasted.  First Belichek and Brady lose and now this.  They are a tough bunch and will survive.

We have had four snow squalls here in Cincy since about 2PM.  Each of the first three has been about 30 minutes and then followed by bright sunshine.  The current one appears to be ending and I see some sun breaking through.  I don't recall ever having seen events like this although I am sure they are more common in other parts of the country.

I measured 3 at one point but it had compacted a lot.  Dulles recorded 3.9.  Seemed like more, but not sure it ever got below freezing so it was melting as it landed.

4 inches at DCA, which has historically underestimated snowfall.

honestly, in crystal city, it didn't look like that much.  I think it melted very fast.  Even unsalted walkways not exposed to sun are mostly clear.

The Euro model is showing the development of a tropical storm, and potentially a hurricane, east of Bermuda in the next few days.  It's no danger to land, but it's way early for TS formation

If you had said East of the Yucatan, I would have said, hmmm, it's early, but not that crazy.  But east of Bermuda?  In the Atlantic, not the Gulf?  This early, that north? :panic:

Fairfax as well. Next week is Spring Break. And Fairfax County got like a bunch extra snow days for some reason and now if they don't use them, the county will remove them from the schedule.

My mom is a retired Fairfax County teacher who still sometimes works as a substitute and she explained the calendar is done differently from the way we all remember from when we were kids. It used to be they had to have 180 days and they'd schedule 183, with those three days being used to allow for snow days without making them up if needed. Now, apparently, the Commonwealth gives school districts a choice of either a straight number of days or an alternate method that measures classroom instructional hours. My mom said apparently Fairfax uses the latter method and it allows them a lot more flexibility for snow days. She said that going into this week they had used five of thirteen snow days.

They should just close tomorrow if next week is spring break and they were just closed for two days. Seems dumb to reopen for just one day.
