If Trammell is in the HOF, then Lou Whitaker should be in the HOF. It’s a travesty otherwise.

Can't wait for Jeff Suppan to get in the Hall.

Digging in a bit, Morris seems to get in on the basis of 'one' playoff performance - the 10 inning shutout.  Overall he had a 3.80 playoff ERA.  The numbers, both playoff and his regular season 3.90 ERA (now the highest of any HoF pitcher) don't make a case for inclusion.  Trammell had a much stronger case.

I recall an article in BP some years ago that examined the case for Morris (clutch when it counted) and found the evidence did not support the assertion.

Exactly.  Trammell I'm ok with.  Morris should not be in there.  Morris's top 2 most similar pitchers according to B-ref are El Presidente and Bartolo Colon.  Can you imagine Colon getting in the Hall?

But hey, he did really well in the World Series this one time.  Like I said, can't wait for Jeff Suppan and Juan Uribe to get in the Hall.

2 differences:

1) I like McGriff;  and
2) McGriff never threw a 10 inning shutout in a playoff game.

I was talking with a couple of my neighbors a few weeks ago. I had my Nats jacket on and the wife saw it and said, “Oh, my nephew played some baseball.”   I’m of course thinking college ball or maybe minor league ball but she said that he played for the Detroit Tigers for a while. So I asked what was his name?  Answer: Alan Trammell. I almost fell over.

I haven’t seen them out walking since the HOF announcement but I can’t wait to ask if they are going to the induction.
