I mean, that outta do it right? Unless the Nationals can move some salary, I don't see them making any big moves at this point.

I think the pen is set now with Kintzler signing but I bet Rizzo still wants to get starting pitching.

Oh hey so a free agent wanted to sign with the Nats.  I was told that free agents avoided us like the plague.

Great news on Kintzler signing. I really liked him and I think he was a locker room leader. I thought he was a gonner. We have a legit 7-8-9 now and arguably the best back end of the pen in the league. (Yankees)

Sean Doolittle
Ryan Madsen
Brandon Kintzler
Enny Romero
Sammy Solis
Koda Glover (If he is healthy)
Shawn Kelly (See above)
Matt Grace

That is a nice looking pen.

And there is no doubt in my mind Rizzo will add a quality starter. We can sign Arrieta, Lynn or Alex Cobb and all three guys would be quality additions but I think a trade is more likely.

Rizzo loves Zach Greinke and he has a reasonable contract for a legit ace. Chris Archer would be a great addition as well.

Could you imagine Strasburg - Scherzer - Greinke 1-2-3. Wow.

Not that excited about Kintzler. I suppose he's ok for middle relief.

he's a perfect 7th inning guy who has shown he can work in even the later innings.  $5 million a year for 2 years is reasonable for him.  I still think we need another RHP given that Glover and Kelley are question marks.  Maybe we bring Alberts back on a 2/$6 million deal or thereabout.

Kintzler isn't an exciting guy.  Today most all relievers are throwing gas with filthy stuff and racking up strikeouts.  Kintzler doesn't do that.  He's like Doug Fister in the bullpen.  But, he's been consistently getting soft contact throughut his career.  If he fit in well with the guys last year after the trade, then I like bringing him back on a reasonable deal like this.

I'm okay with going with Romero, Solis, and Grace as the lefty options out of the pen.  I don't think Grace has much of a ceiling, but hopefully at least one of Romero and Solis emerge as reliable.

If we can get one of Glover/Kelley healthy and performing, along with Romero or Solis pitching well, then we're set.  I like that we have multiple options, and I'm sure we'll pick up some more guys off the scrap heap to hope to strike gold (Matt Albers last year).

Wonder if the Nats inquire on Danny Duffy. Rumblings they're shopping him and he's openly campaigning to stay, but he'd be a good Gio replacement and fill that 5 spot this season.

I'd like to see Albers come back...he was our most consistent reliever all season long.

I would have rather had Albers. He was better last year. Also seems capable of pitching two innings of needed.

And he made Joe "I'm a Dick"  Blanton throw me and my son a ball at Coors Field this year.

Madson did in AZ as well...but he didn't need a a teammate to stop and tell him to.

Yes. Only four starting pitchers, including Roark and Gio, and who trusts Gio?

At the least Gio is durable.  He doesn't go into the 7th often, so he's not an innings "eater," but he'll make all 32 or 33 starts most ever year.  I would be less surprised at his ERA back over 4 than coming close to last year's numbers, but at least he's not an injury risk guy.

I trust Gio April - Sept, which has some decent value. I don't think I'd trust him to start in October anymore, though.

Pretty much this. No free agent pickup or blockbuster trade is going to get them out of their own heads.

Orioles trying to trade Machado but Angelos refuses to deal with the Yankees or any team that might flip Manny to the Yankees. While this story is all based on some tweets Nightengale did (and therefore automatically it’s suspect info), it wouldn’t surprise me if it were true. That old man is a nut.

Does anyone believe this?? And how do you do this deal and resign Bryce? Supposedly they even are talking Rendon extension with Boras.

Does anyone believe we'll actually sign him? No.

Does anyone believe Boras is trying to use the Nats as leverage so another team has to pay more? Absolutely,

Trade Harper for a nice haul of prospects.

Sign Martinez and watch him have the same effect as signing Murphy. 45 HR, 125 RBI in this lineup. Guaranteed.
