Bob is bland. Which, I guess, is neither a crime nor a virtue. He's just "there" on the TV set.

FP, can't stand him but I admit it's likely a generational thing on my part (too old to "get" him). When he was at ESPN doing college games, he couldn't get enough of his "oppo taco" calls. At least, he didn't bring that here.

And here I am talking trash about a fellow University of Miami alum. Just to show I'm not biased (I mean, I should be crazy about him). Maybe he can get the Miami jeweler to make up a "Home Run Chain" (along the lines of the famed Turnover Chain) that Dan can present at home plate on homers. On second thought, that's so not DC; maybe a good idea for the Marlins though. I mean,  the mural or whatever that thing is PLUS the chain. They'd be unbeatable.

There we go...a little action. Been slow around here for a few days. I'm ok if Bob goes but FP is the Nats on TV.

Game on.

I like that we've had the same guys for a while, even if they have some annoying habits.  The familiarity of watching the game on the porch with a beer on a hot, muggy night listening to FP complaining about whatever new rule and Bob getting too excited over a fly ball is all part of the experience.

Rafael Palmerio has announced he wants to make a comeback at 53.  Seriously.

It's almost sad when you hear these old washed up guys talk about returning after so long...in this case 12 years since he retired.  Are they that bored with their life?  Are they that delusional?  Are they that broke and desparate?

Wouldn't this reset his HOF clock?

He's not getting in anyway with that failed 'roid test and him still pointing his finger on capitol hill claiming he never took the,.  He's a liar.

Curious, at what point would you reset your clock for the Hall?  Would he have to actually appear in a game, or could he sign as a minor league free agent, embarrass himself at spring training, then quietly be cut/retire again and it not effect his clock?

Unless he's been 'roiding the whole time, he's just being stupid. At 53, you couldn't get out of the way of a mid 80s inside fastball anymore.

It's different for different players.  In his case, it's stupidity.

Read a comment on another board that Ted Wiliams frozen head has a better chance at a comeback than Palmeiro. Cracked me up.

If Julio Franco couldn't make it to 50, I'm not sure anyone can.

I like how they wear their homerism on their sleeve, especially FP. A lot of broadcast teams are too old school. They try to call the game in a professional manner and the only time you can tell they're rooting for the home team is when a call goes the wrong way.

But other than that. FP can be pretty annoying with his trendy terms for things. He probably says "clap back" and "baby bump" too.

I think with listening to the same guys 162 times a year calling 3 plus hour baseball games...they are bound to become annoying and repetitive unless you just accept that and make it more endearing and part of the experience.  Keep the line moving.  There goes the no hitter.  Daniel "Hits" Murphy.  See you later.  Without expressed written consent of the Washington Nationals.  Offense is cool.  I'm fine with it all and am just happy I can watch the games any given night now.  I grew up an Expos fan that could only watch them when TBS was showing Braves games and they played them or when they played the Cubs and WGN showed it.  It was like once a year ESPN would do an Expos game.  Later Fox Sports came along and Fox Sports Ohio would show Reds games here in Louisville, so I'd catch the Expos playing the Reds.  Simpler times.  Waiting for the top of the hour score updates to scroll across ESPN before you could check hop online or check your phone.  Or even more old school...waiting to get the sports page in the morning and check the box scores.

The problem is they sometimes also display homerism for other teams. Bob's love of the Cardinals is well known, and FP definitely had a crush on the entire Chicago Cubs roster in 2015 - 2016.
