So what about firing Rizzo again?
« Topic Start: September 26, 2017, 03:47:32 PM »
I'm sorry what was that about firing Rizzo. Did I just read the Nats made the playoffs again? Are we in the playoffs? How about the Orioles? Where are you guys who said fire rizzo or we shouldn't have hired Dusty Baker????

Waiting two to five weeks to either slam you for being an optimist (read Rizzo butt kisser), while drinking in the delicious (to them) schadenfreude, or celebrating the first playoffs success in this city for a long time.

Mrs. Rizzo, your son is working very hard and you should be proud of him.   We all hope his team can win the World Series just like you do.

No more than idiotic fans getting excited about winning a division of a player winning the NL batting title.

Or idiotic fans who think we should've traded Robles for a reliever...

You make yourself look bad with this stupid, cringe-worthy post.

"Neener neener neener, the Nats made the playoffs again and that makes you WRONG!  I'm going to embarrass you with a separate thread!"

Wait until your balls drop before you start threads.

As a card carrying member of the Rizzo fan club since the 09/10 offseason, if the Nats have another disappointing NLDS then no one should be pounding their chests.

We could get swept in the NLDS and I still wouldn't fire Rizzo.

He is legitimately a top 5, at worst top 10 GM in baseball.

At a certain point the team has to advance in the playoffs for Rizzo to be considered a top gm

I agree but I'm not taunting Rizzo doubters until I see what happens after October.

Kind of like the Caps, I think there is plenty of random chance in the playoff. But when the sample size grows you start thinking it's less bad luck and more a design flaw.

Admittedly, if this team can't get it done with this staff and an offense that has rolled people then I'm not sure what the answer is.

Oh, we've fired him dozens of times but the damn Lerners....

Apparently he's still under contract so they are loath to incur redundant costs.

Rizzo isn't playing this October.  His job is to assemble the best team possible.  It's the players job to make the plays and pitches.  Is Rizzo any smarter if Storen doesn't blow the save against the Cardinals?  Or if in the 40 innings game against the Giants just once somebody gets a clutch hit?

Rizzo assembled a team at the start of the year with the best offense in baseball and great starting pitching 1-3.  The bench, when everybody was healthy, was also stellar.  In fact, the organizational depth has been good enough to keep on winning a ton of games even with guys that started the year in the minors and on the bench.

The big weakness he had to fix during the season was the bullpen.  He did so without giving up the likes of a Robles or any other super prospect.  He not only patched up the bullpen, it's now really, really good.

Rizzo has done a fantastic job and whether the team chokes in October or comes through doesn't change the job he's done.  By all accounts, he's put together a roster with as much chance to win this thing as anybody.  What more do you want?

Don't tell that to the Cubs.
