Good move, but would you rather pitch to Zim or Lobo in clutch situations?
right now, probably Zimmerman

How do the Cubs stack their rotation?  Lester has all sorts of postseason experience, but has struggled badly this year.  Arrieta hasn't finished strong.  Quintana has been the best pitcher but isn't proven in October.  I'd guess Quintana Game 1 then Arrieta then Lester.

Arietta is having a hamstring issue and might have to sit out for at least Games 1 and 2. He is missing his start Sunday.   http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-jake-arrieta-no-sunday-start-20170929-story.html

Lurking Cubs fan here.  Really didn't intend to post, but this is like the third time or so I've seen the Cubs pitching staff talked about in this thread without Kyle Hendricks being mentioned.  Just seems odd.  He's been the Cubs best pitcher this year and is probably the prime candidate to start game 1.

Because we haven’t spent the season watching the cubs and the talking heads on national programs don’t slurp him. I’ve only got so much bandwidth for this.
EDIT:He’s also pitched a lot less innings than last year and seems worse in every meaningful stat than last year.
So chalk it up to ignorance I guess

He definitely started off slower, and then was out for a while with a right hand issue.

Anyway, it's like to be Hendricks then Quintana for the first 2 games.  It's a bit of a mystery after that...Lester had a down season, moreso in the 2nd half, and Arrieta's battling a hamstring injury.

I'll disappear back into the shadows now.

I had Lester on my fantasy squad this year. He's been maddening.

Arrieta was scratched. Likely out for the NLDS

You're free to post as long as its analytical or otherwise not intended to incite.

This forum was founded at a time when the "official" MLB board was unmoderated and overrun with other teams' trolls.  We like that it's a Nats fan forum and we don't have to be on guard all the time.

Just doing some googling I don't think that's the case. He's going to throw a sim game next Wednesday and looking to start game 3 or 4

If they hold him out until Game 4, he'll miss the NLDS...  ;)

I think everyone figured on game 4 for him. I assume CCFF.net is not talking about Roark

The difference is that Hedricks is probably their second best starter.

I was at Wrigley in 2014, the year before they put in the new scoreboard. I liked the "Charm" meaning a feeling of having gone back in time; the 4 piece brass ensemble wandering the park; the Cubs fans who are good baseball folks; the Cubby Bear and all the regular sports bars which surround the stadium( the Nats have not one such place and will forever be locked in FuFu hell) even liked the fog which descended on the field for most of the Friday night game..............but having to go down into the catacombs of the stadium to use the rest room.....not so much

They don't want to jinx either the red sox or the yankees in the AL and the cubs or dodgers in the NL.

The mouthbreathers in jorts, backwards Fox Racing lids, and orange shirzeys killing buckets of Bud light on Eutaw street do inject some authentic kultur into the fan experience
all the regular sports bars which surround the stadium( the Nats have not one such place and will forever be locked in FuFu hell)

I'm actually feeling really confident about beating the Cubs.  I'm actually thinking we sweep them.  Quality pitching shuts these guys down, just look at the 2015 NLCS against the Mets.  They could barely make contact with the ball.

So what if Scherzer isn't ready, and Tanner and Gio are like yesterday?

We better hit, that's what.  At least Bam Bam seemed to be getting some good wood on the ball.

Save Max for game 3. If Nats are up 2-0, save him until the Nats lose.

* I don’t really believe this. But it’s an interesting strategy.

Instead of a rotation, a permutation.
