I'm actually feeling really confident about beating the Cubs.  I'm actually thinking we sweep them.  Quality pitching shuts these guys down, just look at the 2015 NLCS against the Mets.  They could barely make contact with the ball.
Oh, I see Smithian has a new screen name

traditionally, we say to a new member "welcome," although the sunny and pleasant tone reminds us of one of our more up-beat members.

And Gio4Ever - welcome!  A board name like that almost would work as a password, but you need a non-alphabet / non-numeric character, like Gio!4Ever.

Well, now I have to go change some passwords... 😉

Change it to Krzyzew$ki. No one knows how to spell it, so you know nobody will ever hack into your accounts. Also, you might win a trivia contest somewhere with it because you will know how to spell it.

So you may or may not know how hard it is to spell.

I was passing through Durham/Chapel Hill last year and stopped by both Cameron and the Dean Dome. It was really cool. Both are bucket list places to take in a game.

Chris Russo just picked the Nats to win the World Series.

But he also said that Kinzler could close the game tonight for the Twins.  :hysterical:

And he picked Tigers and Mets and beginning of season.

Doomed.

Honestly I've tried to listen to Mad Dog and he might actually know less about sports than I do.

Saying he's confident about beating the defending champs after our past playoff outings is a step too far even for me.

Cubs aren't the same team though.  They lost important pieces like Fowler.  Pitching is nowhere near as good as it was last year.  Their hitting has been off and on, and I'd lean toward it being off against our dominant pitchers.

Winningest team in the NL the last month of the season. 40 points higher in OPS the last month of the season compared to the Nats

Part of that is because they had to.   Nats and Dodgers had little to play for as the seeding positions were already locked up.   Look at some of the line-ups the Nats put out there, regularly resting the older veterans, almost a AAA lineup pretty often.    Cubs performing mediocre for a half season with most guys healthy would concern me if I was a Cubs fan.

"Because they had to"

So, they've been in playoff mode since July. That doesn't really give me a whole lot of hope considering it's been obvious the Nats have been mailing it in since August.

Great article and exactly what I was looking for.

We had all the momentum in the world in 2014. Hell we were coming off a NO HITTER. Yet we still got owned by the Giants.

:lmao: they won the division by 17 games that year. Literally no game the last two weeks of the season meant a damn.
