What would you call someone that didn’t care about that type of potential advantage?
Someone who recognizes that team that performs is the one that wins.

Are you going to tell me that the team that scores the most runs wins as well? I don’t agree with you a lot, but usually your thoughts are at least more than empty platitudes...

You can do better I think... maybe it’s the heat. Maybe try again tomorrow.

Yes. I’m sure that’s it. Can’t understand a game I’ve been following for years. Much more likely than the possibility that I’m dealing with  a weapons-grade troll who thinks that sounding certain about something will cover up ignorance or just plain stupidity.

Yesterday, Houston was the only division leader to lose. :w: are a win or cubs loss from wrapping up home field advantage for the NLDS.

edit - thanks to Bluestreak for pointing out that, with a better head-to-head record, the Nats have clinched home field v. the Cubs.

Standings for home field - All MLB

      Team      Record GB             Clinched Division?
1. Dodgers   99-57   ---             Yes
2. Cleveland 98-58     1             Yes
3. Houston    95-60    3.5          Yes
4. :w:           94-61     4.5          Yes
5.  Boston     91-64     7.5          No  (NYY 5 GB) - cannot get best record
6.  ChiCubs   87-68    11.5         No (Mil 5.5, St L 6 GB) -cannot have a better record than LAD, CLE, or HOU.

Tragic numbers for :w: - for 1st - 3, for 2d - 4, for 3d - 7.
Magic numbers for :w:  - for AL East - 5.

:w: clinched home field v. Cubs.

Thanks for doing this, but Nats have already wrapped up home field in NLDS.

Does any DC team really have "home field advantage?"

I don't think so. If we play the Dodgers and when we play the Cubs ecpect the stadium filed with "out of town fans" many of whom were born here.

DC is not a good sports town for the home team

I'd say that vs. Houston, we probably will probably have a solid home crowd.  Against Boston, NYY, LAD, and CHC, I'd say all bets are off.  I'd expect more of the stadium to be pro- :w: than for regular season games.  I did not get the sense that it was a pro-LAD crowd in last year's NLDS.

Hope your right but never saw it as bad as it was for the last LAD series.

I went Saturday (3-2 loss) and there did seem to be a lot of LAD fans.  I think having the lead the whole way also helped keep them around and loud.

This town is indeed overflowing with Dodger fans, but they do not have the same access to playoff tickets as they do for regular season games.   They will buy up all the available tickets; there are many available tickets for a regular season game, not very many for a playoff game.   I think the same will hold for Cubs fans.

There's a big difference between regular season and playoffs.  Every playoff game I've been to (StL, SF and LA) have been overwhelming pro-Nats.

Same for me for StL and LA.  For some reason though, there seemed to be more Giant fans than you'd expect, at the game I went to (game 2, 2014).

I don't think I've ever seen a playoff game where the visiting team had any significant presence in a stadium.

I missed the update the past couple of days, so things change, tempis fugit, and thank goodness for beers.

Standings for home field - All MLB

      Team      Record GB             Clinched Division?
1. Dodgers   102-57   ---             Yes
2. Cleveland 100-59    2             Yes
3. Houston    99-60    3          Yes
4. :w:           96-63     E          Yes
5.  Boston     92-67     E          No  (NYY 3 GB)
6.  ChiCubs   90-69    E           Yes
----------------
WC AL - MIN (83-76)@ NYY (89-70)
WC NL - COL (86-73) is 2 games ahead of MIL for 2d WC.  Top WC is AZ (92-67)

More or less, the Nats locked into 4th unless we sweep the last 3 and Houston drops them all.  The Nats have the tie-breaker v. HOU.  Houston and Cleveland are close for the top AL seed and Cleveland still has a chance for top seed. I have not checked HOU/LAD tiebreakers, and best Houston can finish is tied with LAD.

Don't worry.  NY or Boston will win the AL and we'll have home field advantage either way.

This. I've been to most of the playoff home games since 2012 and it's nothing like the regular season.

I have WS game 7 tickets if the Nats get that far with home field. If that's the only way the game gets played here, I'm not complaining.
