I cannot wait till tomorrow. I love Strasburg and he has a major attitude and something to prove. He’s gonna be a frickin beast tomorrow.
I hope so; I think him coming up big is the key to the series.

I'm curious of Blanton's solid September gets him the nod.

His experience and ring get him the nod. His September makes Rizzo not wince while giving it to him.

I do wonder if performance in Games 1 and 2 will dictate whether or not Scherzer pitches. If we go up 2-0, do we go with Roark for Game 3, and, Stras Game 4, and hope Max is ready for Game 5?

If they split, go with Roark in Game 3, Stras in Game 4 and see how Scherzer is in Game 5.

The problem with this is when does Roark throw? He's one of the more routine-oriented pitchers.

Seems pretty obvious that you go with Gio. Max isn't 100% and more time is needed. Even an extra day or two. Gio is far better at home and pitches with more emotion. The fans will be behind him at home.

It's funny, but if Max can been good, his injury may be a blessing in disguise and force Dusty to arrange the rotation the way it should have been the whole time.

Solid truth. Max will be a bulldog in the other guy's park. Hopefully Roark gets a charge out of pitching at (his) home.

The only thing is the G4 matchup HEAVILY favors the Cubs with Arrieta against Roark.  That's pretty much a win for them.  Which means we have to find 3 wins elsewhere and none of the Cubs starters are slouches.

Assuming Arrieta is 100 percent. That’s a big assumption...

Don't have to worry about Game 4 when the brooms come out after Game 3

Oh you think Nats will win in 3? I never figured you to be so optimistic. I figured 4...

I fully expect the starting pitcher to dominate for 7 innings, the 3-4-5 hitters to mash in the clutch, and an infielder to make some amazing plays to save the game for his team.

Nice.  Hopefully he’s close to 100%.

So we know the starter but not the time.

Watching all these "aces" getting beat up this postseason is very disconcerting considering we are built around starting pitching

So Game 4... I’m guessing the starter hinges upon whether we win or lose Gm3... or is it Strasburg either way?

Hoenstly, I think you have to start him. You can't go back home and face Hendricks. He owns this team. He rents space in their head. You fight to end it in Game 4.

Roark if we are up, Strasburg if we are down.  Standard decision.

A factor could be how Max feels & if long relief is needed

If we are up 2-1, it would be incredibly, incredibly stupid to start Stras on short rest.  If he doesn't do well, it's basically series over.  You go with Roark.  If he loses oh well, I'll take Stras any day of the week over Hendricks.

If you go with Roark, you lose. That means Game 5 against a pitcher who currently rents a cattle ranch worth of space in Nationals' hitters. Under no circumstance can you go to a Game 5. Stras can give you five innings. Albers, Madson, and Perez can get you to the 8th

In case you forgot, we won game 2 last year with Roark starting.  2 ER in 4.1.

They will do much better against Hendricks a second time.

And last year, we scored three runs in Game 1. What's your point?

Yea, they might score a run off him.
