David Bote's "Golden Homer" last night was only the 3rd time in baseball history that a batter has hit a walk-off grand slam when his team is down to its final strike and trails by 3 runs.

Leonys Martin has been battling a life-threatening bacterial infection that attacked his internal organs. He is currently in stable condition, and is improving, but recovery is expected to be measured in weeks, not days. He is able to sit up today and communicate, which apparently is an improvement.  Scary stuff.

The A's appear to be a team of destiny this year.

They're pretty good, but this week is put up or shut up time.  At home against the two teams they're competing with.

Joey Votto goes in 10 day DL. Still hasn’t recovered from thigh contusion from when Madson hit him on August 4. So dumb. Reds have series upcoming against Giants and Brewers. Teams the Nats are chasing for the Wild Card.

Sale back to the DL.  Adjust your fantasy teams accordingly.
