He's from a small village in Northern Japan akin to Wisconsin or Michigan.  And he went on to play for Nippon Ham in Hokkaido which is snow country and equivalent to Minneapolis.  So I'm not sure if he cares for big cities or the sun.  Seems like he thinks differently than the normal player.  With that trajectory he ends up in Minnesota.

Is he from Norway or Japan?  Everything you're saying sounds more to me like the type of player who would go to Seattle.

There is zero chance he comes to DC
Rizzo sends scouts all the time. Zero chance the Learners offer enough money to make Otani come to DC.

Z-E-R-O
I will throw a pitch for the Washington Nationals before Otani ever does
ZERO CHANCE
So you're saying that Otani will make his decision based on market and competitiveness of the team?

Yea, ZERO CHANCE he comes here. None. While you all are sitting here fapping to Otani playing the OF full time and closing games for us, the Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, and Mariners are laughing at you, and making arrangements to welcome their new stud.

The seven teams that will meet Ohtani, confirmed to The Athletic from sources: #Dodgers; #Angels; #Padres; #Mariners; #SFGiants; #Rangers; #Cubs. Every other club is out.

If I'm the Angels, I'd market Kole Calhoun to open an OF spot versus relying on Pujols to play 1B so that Ohtani can DH.  Pujols at 1B would be a disaster...that can can't bend over or move laterally at all anymore.

are you saying he'd be better in the OF?  The Angels have him for 3 more seasons, he's going to play 1B or DH.

No, read what I wrote again.  Trading Calhoun opens an OF spot for Ohtani, versus moving Pujols to 1B to open a DH spot for Ohtani.

Unless he just wanted to play with Trout, I cannot for the life of me figure out why the Angels. I suspect there will be an investigation by MLB to look for shenanigans.

They were only 5 games out of a playoff spot last year. They're not really that far away.

Honestly, they're the team that should go after Arrieta.

Trout for a full season and Dervish would have gotten them close to, if not into, the WC

Angels are like DeBeers was with diamonds back in the day.  Pujols will make more than the GNP of some countries to sit.

It’s a shame the Angels aren’t coming to Nats Park for a while. This is going to be a must-watch team.

How is this guy going to be treated In fantasy? Do both his offensive stats and pitching stats count?

Most leagues I've played in count both. I had Chris Davis in 2012

Ohtani reportedly plays 1B too. Probably can fly their team charter as well.

the other way to play it is to platoon Cron and Ohtani.  They don't think too much of Cron, it seems (see Luis Valbuena pick up).  Pujols can play 1B and DH.  Ohtani is not going to be in the line up every day, and keeping Cron and Calhoun gives them some depth if Ohtani can't hit in the majors.

Oh, and I'm moving this to out of town.
