I get cramps frequently, and I'm pretty sure it's a hydration issue.  I agree with what you say, but how do we know for sure he really doesn't prepare properly?  Is there a training staff working on a pre-game regimen?

I also wonder if maybe around the 4th inning they shouldn't stick an IV in him between innings.

Did I miss a memo?  Are you a pro athlete?  I know you've got a killer knuckleball....    ;)

Perhaps the IV, but really, come on.  Your body is your livelihood.  Know when to hydrate.

You ensure that you hydrate properly 2 days before your scheduled start.

I expect a training staff to be on his ass from whenever it is that he should be starting his prep.  I doubt that is really happening.

I am sure the training staff works on it. More Gatorade please.

Have your researched that maybe some athletes are prone to cramps no matter how much they hydrate or did you know that already?

That would be asking too much for the peanuts he's making.

I find that drinking coffee all morning, slamming a couple of waters mid-day, and drinking ryes late into the evening doesn't really prepare me for the rigors of sleeping.

Having trouble finding out exactly how, or when, to add more constructive fluids in such a way that doesn't interfere with my lifestyle.

I think I would hate Perez if he was on another team. His gyrations would come across as showboating. But since he's on the Nats I find them entertaining and eccentric. ;)

Juno's kangaroo! Are you freaking serious? Drink a gallon of water a day. You don't need a freaking trainer to be on you for that. They probably even have more advanced stuff to help him. Are you being his knight in shining armor in case he reads this thread later?

While hydration seems the obvious suspect, in truth there isn't a lot of good medical research pointing to causation.

I'd like to nominate this for post of the year.

Well I'm glad you have confidence in his ability and readiness to adopt your regimen.  I have a more realistic view - it's not happening and the club needs to make ti happen for him if he can't / won't.

But I still get entertained by Holiday Inn doctors on here who prescribe a gallon of water and maybe some Gatorade. I'm sure the doctors and trainers have not thought of that. :bang:

I'm trying a variant tonight - diluting the rye with some fine Italian vermouth, a cherry and a couple dashes of bitter.  I'll report back in the morning.

I used to have the same problem balancing out reefer, cocaine and Jack Daniels.
