Okay, to be clear, I'm not saying this is ideal.  But I just took a couple shots to keep myself from punching a wall and is it possible, just possible, that this may actually give us a better chance of keeping Harper long-term?  If we offer him $250-300 mil this offseason, does he take it now?

You probably said the same thing when Eaton went down.  Better than replacing them with .200 hitters.
Not really. They could take the loss of Eaton. Honestly, I was never really high on Eaton. He started off hot, but it was pretty obvious he was going to come down to that ~.275/.350/.400  range he'd had his whole career. Nice, but not essential.

Harper's essential. The guy was FINALLY becoming a consistent hitter. Zim is clearly done. Werth is a shell and we have no idea if Turner is going to hit when/if he comes back.

He'll sign a one year, prove it deal with someone, go nuts, and then sign a massive deal.

That's a good approach from the point of view of the Nationals

Hyper-extending it is how you tear your ACL though.   I'm usually one to be optimistic, but man this just sucks.   That seemed like such an unnecessary injury.
Yea.  Dusty was probably going to rest him tomorrow.  Too bad it wasn't tonight.  You would think the risk would be slipping on the OF but that dang first base has bitten the Nats twice this year.

Feel the same. :(

Slipped on the bag. Almost like it's dangerous to play when it's wet

Second year in a row it's cost us huge right before the playoffs.

Second?  Last year was Ramos and that was from a high throw from Zimmerman.

I never thought Harper was leaving anyway and I don't think this changes that. The Lerners know his value to the franchise means more than just what he does on the field. They're billionaires for a reason. Paying Harper tons of money is an investment that will pay itself off. They know this.

Okay so who's available on the waiver wire?  I'm sure we can find someone who can replace MVP production.  It's fine.  Everything's fine... :glug:

My med school buddy who is one of team docs for LA Galaxy and UCLA just texted me this:

“Fuuuuuuuuuck. Yup I just watched it   Yes. ACL. Dynamic knee valgus with internal hip rotation. Best you can hope for is an isolated MCL but not likely without contact.”

He’s the smartest guy I know.

Translation: Nats freaked.

I'm more inclined to think we've seen him play his last game in Washington.    :?

I have no medical degree or expertise at all on the subject but that was definitely an ACL.  Seen enough of them from watching sports long enough.  No question in my mind.

Ramos literally jumped up and down. No one took him out. He landed on level ground. Ramos was fragile as glass.

I want to hope for good news but, like you said, I know this is bad. Looks as bad or worse than the Eaton injury.

So college football starts soon. People are saying the SEC West might actually be a fight this year.

Tomorrow will be worse; waiting for the news on the injury.
