Players' Weekend nicknames released

Players will be allowed to pick nicknames to wear on their Jerseys Aug 25-27. Most are pretty unimaginative.  But I personally like:

Also, I think this is the first time the "Nationals" script has appeared on an official uniform. I'd like to see it more. Maybe not in this sort of thing, but I like that script.

Part of me doesn't like it, but part of me knows baseball can use a dose of "fun" and this gets people talking and makes kids take notice.  You can watch ESPN and they talk way more about an unemployed subpar QB than the Dodgers on an historic win pace.  Even when it's not NFL or NBA season, they take first billing over baseball during the thick of baseball season.  Maybe some nicknames on the uniforms at least grabs some headlines.

"PTBNL" doesn't sound very forced to me

It's like giving the kid a tonka truck and putting him in a sandbox. It's totally forced and a little manipulated, but the kid can totally have genuine fun with it. I think the players can totally have legit fun with this, even if it's manufactured above their heads.

Yeah, seems pretty lame to me. A lot of the "nicknames" are just made up for this. But whatever. Not a big deal.
