Should have pinch-hit for Cole. He never goes beyond 2 innings scoreless.

   I thought the same thing.

Not gettin' shut down so much as shuttin' ourselves down.    Got men on base and diddle it away.
Well at least we turned over the lineup to get back to Goodwin.  Would be more exciting if Difo was leading off though.

Cole hasn't given up a run in the 3rd or 4th inning all season.

Could be a mindfact but didn't we used to absolutely pummel Worley when he was with the Phils?

If we can hit Arrieta, Lester, Kershaw, Wood, and the rest of those guys in the playoffs, I don't care if Vance Worley puts up a career ERA of 0 against us for the rest of his career.

That's true, but the phenomenon is still very puzzling and it's been that way for years.   And it could translate into problems in the playoffs if we can't hit against a mediocre third or fourth starter or a long relief guy.   And can result in something like a loss in an 18 inning game against BP pitchers.

Sanchez could have only made that play with a great barehand play.  Had no chance with the glove.  That was a hit.

Thought the same. Is it under orders from MASN?

Back to that Lobaton play at 1st base. Now there's that rule about when the ball first enters the glove which used to be in the back of the glove. On that play it looked really close that Telis had control of the ball (pinned between arm and body) although it was not in his glove. Like a receiver in football......is that considered control?

FP, a better question is why is Sanchez hitting second?

Nah, Zim doesn't strike out nearly enough for that. Zim will "hit it hard" but "right at someone" something something "launch angle"

No sooner wrote this and FP was suckin' up to Bob's explanation of analytics bein' around for only 3 years.    Must be a mutual suck up society.

I actually think he's hit better than the numbers indicate and he does have speed.  Not the worst decision ever.

What does speed have to do with hitting in front of three of the best hitters in baseball?

Yes. Fedde took his spot as Gio was on paternity leave

Cole is 2 outs ahead of typical slide toward giving up five runs. Maybe FP will tell us "He's turned a corner".
