That would involve:

A) Getting runners on base, which they haven't done much of at all in the last 12 innings.
B) Not hitting into a double play immediately after a runner reaches, which they have not been able to do tonight.

I feel like he is holding back. I don't know if that is his own doing, or Dusty telling him to not do anything stupid that might get him hurt. The fact is though, these games are meaningless right now. I don't have an issue at all if this is part of the strategy of staying healthy for October.

On the other hand, there are a bunch of gotchas with that strategy, like how to turn it back on when it counts, and playing not to hurt yourself is sometimes the best way to hurt yourself.

It also is possible he's favoring a nagging injury.
