Yeah the fastball is great but that 1-2 change against LeMahieu shows what he still has to work on.  The change doesn't appear to come from the same arm slot as the fastball and it really needs to to be effective at the major league level.  Looks like for all the confidence he has in his fastball, the secondary stuff still needs work.

I disagree. This ump has a horrible strike zone. Extremely inconsistent. I think Fedde has done okay considering the circumstances.

A little bit different type but the eras they played in probably explains that away (Mad Dog would have more comparable power numbers if he played in today's game).


Didn't the pirates also have a player they called the hammer?

I can remember Dick Hoak (Tiger) and Richie Hebner (The Digger?).    Madlock did have 4 batting crowns.

Roark is useless this year and we have no 5th starter anyway
