I think the 1899 Cleveland Spiders had a regular starter in their rotation who they picked out of the stands.

While we're waiting.    What's the new tower goin' up in Crystal City?
not sure which one you mean.  There was supposed to be one between 18th and 20th on Crystal, but nothing's happening.  Same thing across 18th where there's now a hilly driveway.  I don't recall work other than leveling a lot on Eads near whole foods.

My guess it is close to the Pentagon City subway.   Niece has a little run about at Columbia Island.    I notice the "tower" just off to the left as we left the basin.    It couldn't be too far beyond 95 S (or whatever they call it now).

This wikipedia entry is great

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Travers

So there is a player who gave up 35 runs in a game, which is impressive in and of itself, but only 12 of them were earned? 23 Unearned runs?

not according to Ray D. :stir:

oh, that one is going to be an apartment building. I think eventually most of the mall with Best Buy / Marshalls / Nordstrom Rack will be built over, and some of the parking will disappear now that Costco built a garage.

WOW !

like many, I suppose, I worked today, and as I usually do, I try to check if they won--without seeing the score--and then I'll always watch it if they did win, and...what. a. display.

obviously, such a great game to watch, and besides these obvious thoughts and appreciations, one other thing I keep thinking to myself, is what an amazing smile 'godwin' has...

ha-ha...

* smile *

p.s. I can't believe max didn't pitch a complete game shutout, though...

But what a win. Historic in several ways. Zimm ties Hondo, Scherzer gets his sixth consecutive 200 strikeout season, five home runs in an inning, four in a row... man.
