Twins seem like a big omission if the problem is playing outside in the cold.

Giants, also: "The coldest winder I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco".

40k's in 45 innings in 2017; career (2015-2017) 140ks in 124 innings.

My local Met fan said that Duda should be the first to go. Then Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera, then d'Arnaud ("a no-defense catcher who cannot hit"), then Granderson (if any team wants him).

Incidentally, there seem to be two Met fans in the neighborhood. Everyone else is a Yankee fan, and a young Yankee fan saw my hat and said, "Let's go Nats!"

so a 4:1 K:BB ratio.  That's impressive control.  But most of that was in high A this year.  Curious to see if he has the stuff that can survive around the plate that much in MLB.  Here's the FG write up before the season when he was still with the Tigers.
Quote
Drew Smith, RHP, 0.3 KATOH+ – Smith has a gorgeous, explosive delivery and his fastball reaches into the upper-90s with regularity. It lacks horizontal movement and has dominated primarily due to velocity early in pro ball. Smith mixes in an average, looping curveball which he sometimes doesn’t get on top of. It often has solid depth but lacks bite and if more effective underneath the strike zone than in it. Smith is a pure two-pitch relief prospect and there’s a chance his fastball doesn’t play as well at the upper levels as it did in Low-A this year. He has a middle-relief profile, has yet to pitch above A-ball.

While it has Nats implications discussed in the Clubhouse trade thread, the Justin Wilson / Alex Avila to the Cubs for 2 infielder prospects s/b noted.

Looks like a pretty low price for Wilson, who has another year of control.  Q what this says about the market for Reed, Hand, and Britton, and Brach?

Rumors are circulating now that the Orioles are close to dealing Britton.  Indians, Astros and Dodgers among the top candidates.

MLB Network about to start a three hour special leading up to the Deadline.  It's going to feature Ken Rosenthal and John Heyman.  Unfortunate side affect is that overbearing windbag Joel Sherman.

This show is absolutely great programming.  MLB Network may be the best station on television.

so if they don't trade Derek Fisher, he takes over for Aoki in the OF. Double strengthening.

Yankees just traded a minor leaguer on the 40-man to Baltimore for cash.  Speculation is to make room because Sonny Gray deal is imminent.

EDIT:

Now the trade is a done deal.  Jorge Mateo, James Koprilion, Dustin Fowler is going back to Oakland.

Excellent deal for the Yankees and could be an excellent deal for Oakland, too.

Kaprielian just had TJ surgery, but he's almost a major-league ready SP who will be pitching in the minors next April, probably AA.

Mateo is a former top-50 prospect who had struggled in high-A the last 2 years but has looked 10x better in AA and could be a stud.

Fowler was having a huge rise the last 1.5 years and made the majors but busted his knee in his first inning in RF. Once he's back next year, he can play CF for Oakland.

A lot of risk, but a ton of upside.

The boys on MLB Network were breaking down Mateo and said that multiple scouts have him at an 80 rating for speed.  Billy Hamilton comps.

they hit on 1, it's a good deal. They hit on Kaprelian and a position player, it's a great deal.
