Max may have to go stand at some intersection in downtown D.C. again pretty soon!

The error and the misplay by Rendon cost him too many pitches that inning.

Yes. Bad for Nats... good for an extra strikeout though. Right now, that is all that matters on the GDT.

That and I'm a bit worried about Mitlen.

Except the extra pitches may cost him an inning on the back end.

ESPN mic's are freaking me out.

Time to trade Wieters. Might as well trot Loby out there.

No one is going to trade anything for Wieters. Hopefully the Learners have learned their lesson.

Max $cherzer
All of Max'$ $tart$ are dedicated to hi$ late brother, Alex Scherzer R.I.P.

Pitchers            IP    H   R   ER   BB   $O   HR   PC-$T
Max $cherzer  5.0   2    0     0       1      10      0      72-48

Scherzer grew up and played high school baseball in the suburb west of St. Louis. He was drafted by the Cardinals out of high school, but opted to attend the University of Missouri. Arizona drafted him in the first round after college.

The MLB record for single-game strikeouts is 20, tied by Max Scherzer, Kerry wood and Roger Clemons.

You're probably right. Hoping we can dupe someone into it for some no mark prospect and lo... there is money for Robertson.

Historical note: MLB record for strikeouts is 21, set by Tom Cheney of the Washington Senators against the Baltimore Orioles, September 12, 1962. Cheney went all 16 innings. Max and others might hold the record for a 9-inning game.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BAL/BAL196209120.shtml

(Washington kids were proud of Cheney. We expected the Nats to have a fine pair of starters the next season -- Cheney and Claude Osteen. However, Cheney's arm broke down in 1963. )

They probably didn't count pitches back then...or did they? I'd guess 250 minimum

I wish we had a bullpen where we could pull Scherzer earlier with a 5 run lead occasionally.

Funny. Rendon sat on some obvious first pitch strikes earlier in the game. This time when Max could do with a few more minutes in the dugout he swings at a first pitch to the inevitable groundout.

Play yourself outta contention for the extra man. Good work.

On December 6, 2007, Aaron Boone signed a one-year, $1,000,000 contract with the Washington Nationals.
2008 - 104 games, 232 AB, .241 BA, .299 OBP.

He is the son of former catcher and manager Bob Boone, Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Player Development for the Washington Nationals. Aaron is also the brother of All Star and winner of four gold gloves, Bret Boone, the brother of former Cincinnati Reds minor leaguer, Matt Boone and the grandson of former major leaguer Ray Boone. He is a descendant of pioneer Daniel Boone.
