Montero was DFA'ed this morning, and on this day (and it was day...a day game) catcher Branch Rickey set some sort of record for hopelessness as he caught for the NY Highlanders against the Washington Senators / Nationals.

June 28,1907: Branch Rickey allows 13 steals in a game against Washington. Rickey is given the start, even though he was nursing a bad shoulder, over an injured Red Kleinow, the normal starting New York catcher. Rickey's first throw down to second to catch a runner sails into right field, and his subsequent attempts won't fair much better. Senators pitcher Tom Hughes and 2B Nig Perrine are the only players to not record a steal on Rickey during the contest.

He did. Further, the post showed a picture of Rickey among members of the 1906 St Louis Browns. It looks like he was young, once up a time.

Maybe Montero has a future running a baseball team?
